How to remove an Email Address from the OIC Suppression List

If you have stopped receiving emails from OIC, there is a high probability that the email account used to send notifications has been blocked and added to the email suppression list, in that case you will see an error like this:

Sending email notification failed due to internal error [[
java.lang.RuntimeException: 254 4.7.1 –  my_email_address@mydomain.com is suppressed for sender ocid

OR

Sending email notification failed due to 254 4.7.1 –  my_email_address@mydomain.com is suppressed for sender ocid

Common Reasons for adding email addresses to the suppression list can include the following:

  • An employee on an email distribution list left the company and their email address is deactivated.
  • SPF and DKIM not being configured on the sender’s address domain server (DNS) result in soft bounces and subsequently end up on the suppression list.

In order to remove the email id from the suppression list, you need to do the following:

Go to your OIC Console and click on the hamburger menu

Click on Settings

Click on Integrations

Click on Notifications

Click on the top icon of the right hand side and select Email Suppression list

You will get a search option to see email ids added into suppression list.
Make sure you enter the email address in lower case as that is the way email ids are stored in OIC

After retrieving the email, you can delete it from the suppression list using the wastebasket icon.

It is important to mention that before August 2021 the above steps were executed by Oracle Support but with the August Release customers can manage the Email Suppression list and they no longer need to open a Service Request.
