Oracle Forms Signed JARs - Certificates and Timestamps

After installing and configuring Oracle Forms, administrators should identify the relevant expiration dates embedded in the provided JARs in order to be prepared for their eventual expiration. There are several signatures embedded within some of the provided JARs (for example, frmall.jar). Each signature has a unique purpose and expiration date. For information about how digital signatures work, refer to the Oracle Java documentation. The signed JAR files can be found in the ORACLE_HOME/forms/java directory. You can test the desired JARs using the jarsigner executable in the JDK included in the installation. For example:     On Windows: jarsigner -verify -verbose frmall.jar | find "expire"     On Unix/Linux: jarsigner -verify -verbose frmall.jar | grep "expire" The relevant expiration dates in the provided files are:     Signer Certificate: 01-FEB-2020     Timestamp: 17-JAN-2028 The Signer Certificate date represents the last date that the certificate can be used to sign new JAR files. Since the provided JAR was signed before that date, its expiration is mostly irrelevant and can be ignored. However, it may be used in the event the Timestamp cannot be validated, which requires an Internet connection. The Timestamp is used to ensure that the JAR was signed during a valid period. This validation test can continue through the expiration date of the Timestamp. As mentioned, if the Timestamp cannot be validated the Signer Certificate expiration is assumed to be the last valid date the JAR can be used. If you have JAR files that are approaching the Timestamp expiration, contact Oracle Support in order to receive updated files. Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) Frequently Asked Questions

First and the most important question: What is Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS)? ORDS is a Java application that enables developers with SQL and database skills to develop REST APIs for the Oracle Database, the Oracle Database 12c JSON Document store, and the Oracle NoSQL Database. Any application developer can use these APIs from any language environment, without installing and maintaining client drivers, in the same way they access other external services using the most widely used API technology: REST. Visit Oracle REST Data Services FAQ page, if you have more questions about Oracle REST Data Services(ORDS) like: How can I get started with ORDS? How is ORDS licensed? How does ORDS run on the Oracle Public Cloud? How does ORDS pass parameters in and out to SQL and PL/SQL handlers in REST calls like GET and POST? Can ORDS create RESTful Services that execute PL/SQL stored procedures? How can I document and publish my RESTful APIs I create with ORDS? Why am I getting a 404 Not Found error message when I first do a GET on ORDS using the URI https://<hostname><:port>/ords ? What application server should I use with ORDS? What is Standalone mode and when should I use it? How can I tell what version of ORDS I am running? Does ORDS Support RAC Fast Connection Failover? How do you do performance tuning if ORDS appears to be running slow? Where can I find actual worked examples of implementing OAuth2 security with ORDS? Where can I find examples of creating RESTful APIs using the ORDS PL/SQL API. How does ORDS handle Date data types? The Oracle Database supports date data types but JSON does not. How can JSON objects containing nested arrays be inserted into multiple, hierarchical tables in the Oracle Database? How can I generate nested JSON objects from multiple, hierarchical tables in the Oracle Database, e.g., a JSON purchase order containing a nested array of purchase order items from purchase order and purchase order items tables? How can I turn off pagination so that GETs that return arrays of JSON Objects are processed correctly? How can I store and retrieve JSON in a column of a relational table using REST and ORDS? How can I get answers to other technical questions I may have about ORDS?

Autonomous Database Support with Oracle Forms

Oracle Forms 12.2.1.4 is certified to connect to an Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP-D and ATP-S) database for both application data and/or the required Fusion Middleware Infrastructure Repository. Some Forms features normally available in an on-premise database are not available in ATP or may be partially exposed with limitations because of ATP's enhanced security features. Because of these limitations, Forms features like Advanced Queuing integration and Database Idle System Events are not supported. For more information on these limitations, consult the following topics in the Oracle ATP Cloud documentation:     (Shared Exadata deployments) Autonomous Database for Experienced Database Users in Using Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing on Shared Exadata Infrastructure.     (Dedicated Exadata deployments) Using Oracle Database Features in Autonomous Transaction Processing Dedicated Deployments in Developer’s Guide to Oracle Autonomous Transaction Processing on Dedicated Exadata Infrastructure. For a description of exceptions thrown by Oracle Forms Builder when working with Autonomous Transaction Processing, see Oracle Forms Issues and Workarounds.

Oracle SQL Developer Web or Database Actions 20.3

Oracle SQL Developer Web is the web-based version of Oracle SQL Developer and it is included with Oracle REST Data Services(ORDS). You can check more on ORDS and what it offers here.  Oracle SQL Developer Web (also known as Database Actions) is a web-based application that uses Oracle REST Data Services to provide many of the database development and administration features of desktop-based Oracle SQL Developer. The main features include running SQL statements and scripts in the worksheet, exporting data, monitoring databases, and creating Data Modeler diagrams. So if you have ORDS you will be able to access SQL Developer Web directly without downloading/configuring another product. What you need to do is to enable the ORDS feature during configuration on On-Premise installations:  .....  Enter a number to select a feature to enable:    [1] SQL Developer Web  (Enables all features) .... More about ORDS configuration prompts are available in the official documentation. The SQL Developer Web is not a new thing for ORDS, as it was available starting with ORDS 19.4, however from ORDS version 20.2 it is also known as Database Actions. For Oracle Autonomous Database users the SQL Developer Web is already enabled and it is called Database Actions. Check the relevant sections for Autonomous: Enable Access Manage Users   New features in this release (20.3) include: Develop RESTful web services using the REST pages. See The REST Pages Manage and query JSON collections using the JSON page. See The JSON Page Display database object information in the SQL page. See Navigating Objects and Worksheets A presentation by the ORDS Product Manager Jeff Smith explains more on "what is" and "what you can do" with this feature:

This data is used to assist in problem diagnosis. Complete details on the RDA is available in Remote Diagnostic Agent (RDA) – Information Center (DocID 2388643.2) In this release, the HCVE pre-installation health checks for eBusiness Suite 12.1.1 and 12.2 have been improved to add certification for recent Linux kernel versions and to use the correct version-specific commands when collecting package information on Solaris 11. In addition, the pre-installation health check for database version 11.2 on Linux has been corrected so that only client environments are tested for the presence of 32-bit packages. Other improvements include: Obsolete prompts removed from the WebCenter module for version 12c or later Improvements to error handling in the Oracle Identity Management (OIM) module Addition of kernel versions to the HugePages recommendation in the Linux OS module This release of the RDA is bundled with the 2.12.39 version of the Diagnostic Assistant (DA). Do You Know

Which Oracle WebCenter Content Product Support Ends in 2020 and 2021?

Once your products are in the market and customers are using them, what is the one thing that matters most to you? Every night you go to sleep, keeping your fingers crossed, hoping nothing goes wrong. Yes, we are talking about dreaded software downtime!      There are many reasons to upgrade your Oracle products to the latest patch version. One very important reason to upgrade, is to minimize downtime. One Gartner's report shows that the true average cost per hour of software downtime can be more than $600k! It is prudent to invest time and resources in upgrading your Oracle products at every opportunity.  You don’t want to risk downtime, simply because you failed to install a simple patch. It goes without saying that the effort you put into upgrading, always outweighs the cost you pay because of downtime. Product downtime can impact more than your revenue.  Your brand, the most critical part for your business, might also take a substantial hit! When you avoid an upgrade, you may also face higher security risk vulnerabilities. The performance of your products can also be affected.      Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to achieve 100% uptime / 0% downtime.  You can only maximize the effort it takes to avoid it.  This means keeping track of the latest available patches for your Oracle products.      Eventually, Oracle will stop producing patches to the older versions of their products so, if you are still behind when it comes to upgrading to the latest patches, Oracle strongly recommends to upgrade as soon as possible. In this context, note the following table showing the Oracle WebCenter Content Support End dates for the years 2020 and 2021. [Taken from Oracle Lifetime Support Policy - Oracle Fusion Middleware  Page 32.] For further more details, refer to the following documents: Oracle Lifetime Support Policy - Oracle Fusion Middleware Error Correction Support Dates for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1/11.1.2) (Doc ID 1290894.1) Oracle Software Technical Support Policies Oracle Premier Support Oracle Support Contacts Oracle On-line Support Renewal ※※※ Related Articles: Grace Period Expiration, 12.2.2.0.0; Time to Upgrade!
