Introduction

This is the second part in a 6-part series of blogs, The topic that will be covered is WebGate Certification, Availability, and Download Location. It will focus on the Oracle Access Manager (OAM) 12.2.1.4.0 version of the Access server and its certified and supported components.

WebGate Certification

Given that all WebGate packages for a specific platform are bundled into a single installer package, it has become difficult to determine which Web server/WebGate combinations are certified and supported?

Example

When downloading the WebGate from OTN the WebGate package may be listed as “Oracle Access Manager IHS 12.0 WebGates 11.1.2.3.0” which will download file named “ofm_webgates_ihs12_generic_11.1.2.3.0_disk1_1of1.zip”.

This installer gives no indication what platforms the IHS WebGate is supported on and in fact if used to install the IHS12 WebGate onto an AIX machine it will succeed and the WebGate will be operational. However, the 11.1.2.3.0 WebGate for IHS12 on the AIX platform is not a certified combination per the WebGate certification matrix.

Certification Matrix

The certification matrix is considered the source for truth for which WebGates/platforms are supported. Even if a WebGate package is delivered by an OTN download file, can be successfully installed, and works as expected, if the package is not listed in the certification matrix, then it will not be considered supported or certified. This means that Oracle Support cannot file bugs on the WebGate nor will any bundle patches be produced for the WebGate until the package has been official tested and listed in the certification matrix spreadsheet.

  • The rule of thumb for WebGate certification is that the WebGate version must be less than or equal to the OAM server it is connecting to.
  • The source of truth for the certified and supported Oracle Access Management WebGates for Oracle Access Manager Server 12c product is detailed in the Certification Matrix
