Why Is There Onhand Quantity but Less Quantity Available to Transact?

Todd Cerny
Principal Technical Support Engineer

Have you ever wondered WHY there is Inventory quantity onhand but it cannot be used? There appears to be no reservations but material is still not available to transact? Like a Total Quantity or 17, and Available to Reserve of 14?

One answer is that there are sometimes other processes consuming availability. For instance, old reservations for shipped orders or pending transactions from open or closed move orders may exist. To solve this issue, see note Inventory Standard Datafix Instruction #16: Fixing Stuck Transaction With 'Error Occurred While Relieving Reservations' Due To Incorrect Or Negative Availability : Fix: i2471362.sql + INVCLRMO.sql (Doc ID 1471606.1). Also use the Inventory Transactions Analyzer via Doc ID: 1499475.1 to work through any other unknown issues. The Analyzer includes the standard identification script for orphan reservations as well as data around pending transactions and reservations. Remember to let the Analyzer do the work for you, from diagnosis to solution. Also don't forget all of our EBS Analyzers can be found at Doc ID 1545562.1. Now lets fix that data and get the onhand available!
