Exadata Cloud@Customer is the industry benchmark for hybrid cloud database deployments. As organizations adopt AI-driven applications, database performance is more critical than ever for powering modern AI workloads—not just for traditional OLTP and analytics. From real-time inference to vector search and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI systems depend on ultra-low latency and high-throughput data access. Agentic AI, in particular, requires consistently fast response times to orchestrate complex, multi-step tasks without delay.
To provide the best possible performance for all your Exadata Cloud@Customer database workloads, we’re excited to announce support for the Exadata Extreme Flash storage server. It enables you to run performance-intensive workloads more efficiently while preserving the security, control, and data residency of Exadata deployed as a hybrid cloud in your data center. With the addition of Extreme Flash, you can now choose between High Capacity or Extreme Flash storage servers to precisely align performance with your workload requirements.
High Capacity delivers an optimal balance of performance and cost by tiering data across memory, flash cache, and disk—providing the low latency of DRAM, the high IOPS of flash, and the scalability and cost efficiency of disk. In contrast, Extreme Flash combines DRAM with performance-optimized and capacity-optimized flash to deliver consistent, all-flash performance, particularly for large random I/O workloads. It is well suited for latency-critical applications that require an all-flash architecture for the entire database. Extreme Flash also improves read performance for data not yet cached to performance-optimized flash and accelerates write operations to longer-term capacity-optimized flash.
Both Exadata Database Service and Autonomous Database on Exadata Cloud@Customer support Extreme Flash. You can deploy either Extreme Flash or High Capacity storage servers with any database server configuration, including Base, Standard, Large, and Extra Large memory shapes. Extreme Flash supports both Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and Exascale software for storage management. It is available with the Exadata Cloud@Customer X11M hardware generation, and all storage servers within a given infrastructure must be the same storage type.
With Extreme Flash now available for Exadata Cloud@Customer, you can achieve all-flash database performance in your data center while leveraging a hybrid cloud operating model and maintaining strict data residency and security requirements.
