Thymos Intelligence Providing an Environment in the Cloud to Run HPC Applications
Tokyo, Japan - 2018/07/26
Oracle Corporation Japan announced today that Thymos Intelligence Corporation selects Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as the cloud infrastructure of their high-performance cloud computing (HPC) service, iHAB CLUSTER.
Thymos Intelligence is advocating the concept of iHAB as the future of cloud computing that allows users to use without noticing the location, on-premises or cloud. Under iHAB, Thymos is providing three services: iHAB CLUSTER, iHAB Storage, and iHAB DC. iHAB CLUSTER provides computing resources required for Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Deep Learning.
Thymos Intelligence has been demanding the public cloud that meets iHAB CLUSTER customers' requirements: sudden increase of computing resource demand and a stable high-performance environment to run CAE and AI workloads. To select the public cloud that meets the requirements, Thymos Intelligence tested using a CAE application that is used for actual workloads, and as a result, Thymos Intelligence selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure due to its excellent performance.
The selection points are as follows:
- Excellent Performance: Bare metal instances can provide higher computing performance than virtual machines, and high storage IOPS performance, which comes from NVM Express local and remote block storage, enables the ability to run HPC workloads at high performance. Also, the latest NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU brings excellent performance to Deep Learning and AI workloads.
- Fast and Stable Network: A low-latency and high-bandwidth (25 Gbps x 2) nonblocking network enables high performance and stable internode and storage access.
- High Price-Performance: Bare metal instances can archive higher performance when compared with the similar shape of virtual machines. Also, low-latency and high-bandwidth networks can be used without additional fees. As a result, it provides higher performance at a lower cost. In addition, outbound data transfer is free of charge up to 10 TB, so when a large data download is needed, it still can be provided at a lower cost.
Naohiro Saso, Sales & Marketing Manager at Thymos Intelligence Corporation commented:
The high-performance cloud computing iHAB CLUSTER is the service that provides the latest computing resources on demand to mainly analytics workloads in the manufacturing industry.
IHAB CLUSTER is configured specially for each customer to meet their environment and requirements. It is provided on the high-performance cluster C540, which has the latest CPU, and the cluster is located in a data center in the Tokyo metropolitan area. The customer can use the computing resource as if it is their own on-premises resource.
In order to expand its resources, iHAB CLUSTER has selected Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for a lineup of iHAB CLUSTER service platform because of the rapid new technology adoption and cost performance of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. We expect that continuous and further development of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for HPC would lead to the expansion of the iHAB CLUSTER service.
