Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Terraform Provider Now Supported by HashiCorp

Mark De Visser
Principal Product Manager

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of the HashiCorp Terraform Provider for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which is available as an official provider in Terraform. We are excited to partner with HashiCorp and support our customers in their infrastructure-as-code journey.

Over the last few months, we have invested heavily in Terraform and now support Terraform provisioning across all Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resources. The provider is compatible with Terraform 0.10.1 and later. Following are some of the main resources supported by the Terraform provider:

  • Block Volumes

  • Compute

  • Container Engine

  • Database

  • File Storage

  • Identity and Access Management (IAM)

  • Load Balancing

  • Networking

  • Object Storage

A detailed list of supported resources and more information about how to get started are located on the HashiCorp website.

Customers who are new to Terraform and the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure provider must run "terraform init" with the configuration, which downloads the provider automatically.

Customers who are using an earlier version and want to upgrade to the latest version must remove the manually installed provider or specify 3.0.0 in their configuration files, and then run "terraform init". For more information, see the upgrade guide.

For an end-to-end example on how to create a compute instance on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, see this example.

This release will be followed by Terraform modules for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure published in the official Terraform Module Registry, which will make it easier for customers to find and deploy common Oracle Cloud Infrastructure configurations.
