Continuing our expansion of the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Partner ecosystem, we are pleased to announce ServiceNow configuration management database (CMDB) support for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. ServiceNow CMDB provides a repository for discovered Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resources that can be used to understand service health and improve availability for IT service, operations, and support management for enterprise customers. This integration enables joint Oracle and ServiceNow customers to maintain a single repository of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resource inventories, build a relationship map in the CMDB, and summarize resource usage across different applications, projects, business, services, cost centers, and users. ServiceNow provides process and service automation with orchestration, approvals, and service catalog capabilities. It also packages and delivers Oracle Cloud Infrastructure resource elements such as compute, network, and storage through the service catalog.
This integration of ServiceNow for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has been developed by MapleLabs (part of Xoriant Corporation).
ServiceNow is an Enterprise-as-a-Service CMDB platform that provides security, real-time analytics, IT service, and operations management solutions. It is a single platform to automate business processes across the enterprise using a single data model, intelligent automation, and a modern user experience. It provides visibility of both virtualized and bare metal resources. It also provides dynamic Service Maps that help keep your automation up to date, and can help you maintain regulatory compliance.
Your Oracle tenancy can be thought of, roughly speaking, as your "account," in which you create and administer cloud resources. In order to enable you to partition, organize, and control access to subsets of resources, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure also provides compartments - logical groups of resources. All of the compute, network, and storage resources you use will exist in one of these compartments. You can assign users rights to access resources in one compartment, while denying them access to another. While a simple deployment might require only one compartment, more complex environments benefit from the organization and access control compartments provide.
The ServiceNow CMDB integration and discovery application uses the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure IaaS REST APIs to retrieve the resources managed by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. These resources are imported into the ServiceNow CMDB. The application builds a relationship map to enable easy identification of dependencies among resources to help accelerate inventory, event, change, and configuration management functionalities. Resources can also be assigned user-defined tags to view the usage of applications, projects, business services, cost centers, and users. A dashboard view of resource usage is provided to administrators, operators, and users. The ServiceNow portal for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is an intuitive UI dashboard that exposes the inventory assets from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The dashboard in the ServiceNow portal provides fine-grained role-based permissions for users to gain visibility into Oracle cloud-based inventory and usage control.ServiceNow CMDB can help enterprises:
The Oracle and ServiceNow partnership helps enterprises take full advantage of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s advanced capabilities, while maintaining full visibility and control of their cloud resources.
