Mission-critical workloads can have specific requirements that no single cloud provider can fulfill. To accelerate multicloud adoption and technology modernization for IL4/FedRAMP High accredited workloads, Oracle Interconnect for Azure is now available in Oracle US Gov West (Phoenix) and Azure US Gov Arizona (Phoenix) regions. US government customers now have a cost-effective way to modernize and increase availability while addressing data and sovereignty requirements.

Combine capabilities for increased flexibility

The combination of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Microsoft Azure provides our joint government customers with increased flexibility. With Oracle Interconnect for Azure now available in Oracle US Government Cloud, you can choose the cloud environment and services that best suit your performance needs and budget.

Here are some examples of how you can leverage Oracle Interconnect for Azure to optimize your applications:

  • Connect applications and analytics running in Azure for US Government to Oracle US Government Cloud’s database services such as Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Exadata Database Service.
  • Connect complex applications running in Azure for US Government and benefit from Oracle US Government Cloud’s advanced application and process integration services.
  • Deploy Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Database on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and connect it to a .Net application and Microsoft SQL Server on Microsoft Azure.
  • Run applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, on OCI with distributed data stores on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Microsoft Azure.
  • Eliminate Microsoft Teams real-time communications downtime failovers by running Oracle Communications session border controllers on Oracle US Government Cloud.
  • Enable complete data center exits to Azure Cloud while still utilizing Oracle database capabilities.

By combining the technologies of Oracle US Government Cloud and Azure for US Government, you’re able to innovate, modernize, and build new cloud-native applications.

Seamless interoperability

With Oracle Interconnect for Azure, you can connect your cloud resources in a few clicks using a direct network connection between the cloud providers to enable private connectivity leveraging Oracle Cloud Infrastructure FastConnect and Azure ExpressRoute in an “always on” Interconnect mode. This connection offers less than two milliseconds of round-trip latency and 100GBPS aggregate redundant links so you can deploy workloads across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Microsoft Azure regions for superior multicloud network performance.

Multicloud architecture for FedRAMP High workloads

By using Oracle’s existing FedRAMP High approved DRG (Dynamic Routing Gateway) in Oracle US Government Cloud and Microsoft’s existing FedRAMP High approved VNG (Virtual Network Gateway) boundary gateway interfaces as is, the cloud compliance boundaries are not impacted. The process used is the same as adding another interconnect partner to an existing and approved cloud boundary gateway interface. The following image shows the multicloud architecture now available for FedRAMP High accredited workloads using Oracle Interconnect for Azure between Azure US Gov Arizona (Phoenix) and Oracle US Gov West (Phoenix).

Cost-effective, seamless connectivity across clouds

With Oracle Interconnect for Azure, US government customers can leverage a unified identity and access management platform, which can lead to cost savings. Cloud engineers can set up single sign-on (SSO) authentication between Microsoft Azure and OCI for their Oracle applications. Having a federated SSO makes the integration seamless and lets users authenticate only once to access multiple applications, rather than signing in separately to access each one.

Oracle and Microsoft also collaborate to provide customer support. You may raise issues with Oracle or Microsoft, and both support organizations quickly engage to resolve issues.

Oracle US Government Cloud is offered at the same price as public cloud, and there is no additional cost for using Oracle Interconnect for Azure or moving data between OCI and Azure. Customers don’t have to sacrifice performance to reduce cost. Moving data between cloud providers doesn’t have to be expensive—with Oracle Cloud Interconnect for Microsoft Azure, its free!
