We are pleased to announce the release of a new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Observability and Management Professional Certification. This certification caters to Developers, Cloud Operations professionals, Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), DevOps/SecOps Engineers, Cloud Administrators, Database Administrators and Cloud Architects.
If you are interested in learning more about the OCI Observability and Management Platform, this course is right for you.
OCI Observability & Management Platform
Observability refers to the ability to understand the internal state of a system and help you to determine why the system is in a specific state. This is achieved through instrumenting the different pillars of observability – Metrics, Traces, Logs and Events.
Whether you are a Developer or DevOps Engineer looking to accelerate code delivery; a Security Operations Engineer seeking to harden the security perimeter of the network; a Database Administrator who wants to manage Cloud and On-Premises Databases from a single pane of glass; or a Site Reliability Engineer who needs to quickly troubleshoot incidents, you can leverage a reliable, unified, easy-to-use unified Observability platform.
OCI Observability & Management (O&M) Platform consists of a set of cloud services that enables you to monitor, analyze, and manage applications and infrastructure environments with full-stack visibility, prebuilt analytics, and automation capabilities. This integrated platform aggregates all the observability data for holistic analysis and applies operations-optimized Machine Learning algorithms that can identify anomalous system behavior, rapidly isolate and remediate performance problems, and prevent outages by providing accurate forecasting of impending issues.
Oracle research has showed that over 70% of IT issues go undetected, resulting in unhappy customers and issues for IT staff. OCI Observability and Management services address these challenges by helping you get better visibility and control across your software stack. Using the OCI O&M Platform, you can identify any anomalous system behaviors, quickly navigate and resolve performance issues, and prevent potential failures.
Certification Details
Our goal with this certification and the related course assets is to help you develop a deeper understanding of each OCI O&M service and become proficient in building a complete observability solution with a unified view across the entire infrastructure, applications, and software stack. We have organized this course into 10 major modules:
- OCI O&M Introduction
- Monitoring Service
- Events Service
- Logging Service
- Logging Analytics
- Application Performance Monitoring (APM)
- Stack Monitoring
- Database Management Service
- Operations Insights
- Management Agent & Dashboards

The course begins by explaining Observability terminology and how Observability differs from traditional monitoring. This is followed by the introduction to OCI O&M services, including foundational O&M services Monitoring, Logging, and Events. The subsequent modules cover advanced O&M services such as Logging Analytics, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Stack Monitoring, Database Management, and Operations Insights. Other integrated OCI services are covered in the respective modules of this course.
Each module consists of several lessons that are mapped to individual learning objectives that explain both fundamental concepts and advanced features along with the use cases. Most of the lessons contain demos that illustrate key concepts and provide hands-on familiarity with the O&M services.
The course also includes skill checks for you to continuously validate your knowledge, hands-on lab instructions to gain familiarity with services, a practice exam, and an exam prep session so you take the exam (and ace it) with confidence.
Why invest in the OCI Observability and Management Professional Certification
At the end of this course, you will be able to:

Certification Exam Tips
We have a one-stop training and certification platform consisting of the training video course, skill checks, exam prep, practice exam, online certification test, credentials, and more. It provides an integrated learning experience where learners can move seamlessly from training to certification. Here are some tips on how to get the most out of this learning platform and prepare for the exam:
- First, if you are new to OCI, I would recommend you gain a fair understanding of OCI Core Services – Compute, Storage, and Networking. Our OCI Foundations learning path is a great resource. However, if you are familiar with these services, you can go straight into the O&M course.
- Play through the video course – this course is designed as a collection of micro-lessons, each ~10 minutes in duration, so take the time to understand concepts in smaller chunks. You should also watch the demos and run through the skills checks available in each module.
- Jot down notes on topics that seem pertinent (we have transcript for the videos available in 16 languages, so you can follow along in your language of choice).
- Schedule breaks each hour and move around (don’t stay stationary in front of your computer)
- Use the hands-on labs instructions to get familiar with the product; there is no better way of learning than performing hands-on tasks.
- Take the exam prep prior to taking the certification exam.
- Assess your exam readiness by taking the practice exam.
