Since Oracle Cloud VMware Solution was announced last August, many of our partners and customers have started evaluating it and are migrating their VMware workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). They appreciate that it’s a cloud native, fully customer-controlled, and customer-operated VMware solution, so they can have the benefits of the cloud without losing the control they have on-premises.
We’re pleased to announce the availability of an array of new features, shapes, and capabilities for our Oracle Cloud VMware Solution to deliver the same VMware experience in OCI that customers are accustomed to on-premises.
All things new and improved
vSphere 7.0
We recently launched support for vSphere 7.0. With this release, customers can now deploy the newest generation of the VMware Cloud platform on OCI, using the latest improvements in performance, resiliency, security, and application services. We’re the only public cloud to support multiple versions of vSphere—6.5, 6.7, and 7.0— offering customers the choice to select the version they want in any of 27 OCI regions worldwide.
FedRAMP High ATO
We also recently obtained Provisional Authority to Operate (P-ATO) at the High impact level from the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board. The accreditation recognizes the solution for adhering to stringent performance, security, and compliance standards. Now, US government customers can operate VMware software-defined data centers in OCI to manage and run critical applications and workloads.
DISA Impact Level 5 authorization (IL5)
Today, we’re announcing that we’ve achieved US Federal Cloud with DISA Impact Level 5 authorization (IL5) for Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, with these FedRAMP High ATO and DOD IL5 designations, is now available in all five of our US government regions. This achievement expands the options for US government and public sector organizations to bring VMware-based workloads requiring higher levels of security and compliance with OCI.
New pricing options
We’re also announcing new flexible billing options for Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. With the existing monthly rates, we’re now offering discounted rates when customers make a 1-year or 3-year commitment to reserve their VMware capacity. We’re also adding an hourly billing rate with no commitments for a full 3-server VMware environment to enable customers to optimize their use and costs, from short-lived burst capacity and proof-of-concept environments to long-term more easily create test and proof of concept environments to long term production usage.
Strong VMware partnership
We’re working closely with VMware to ensure that we address the needs of our mutual customers. Clay Magouyrk, EVP at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, recently joined Mark Lohmeyer, VMware SVP and GM at the VMware Cloud Services Business Unit to discuss how the two companies are partnering to bring customers into the cloud.
