We’re excited to announce general availability of VMware’s vSphere 7 on Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. With this release, customers can now deploy the newest generation of the VMware Cloud platform on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), using the latest improvements in performance, resiliency, security, and application services.
VMware vSphere 7 comes with many innovative and powerful features to handle enterprise workloads. You can now take advantage of the following features:
Simplified architecture in the form of converged network switching
More network performance and redundancy in the form of NIC redundancy for Layer 2 VLANs
Support for embedded container technology, the latest lifecycle management tools, and larger virtual machine (VM) footprint
For the full list of features, see the VMware vSphere 7 data sheet.
OCVS support for vSphere 7 includes the following SDDC components:
VMware ESXi version 7.0 update 1d
VMware vCenter version 7.0 update 1d
VMware NSX-T version 3.0.2
VMware vSAN version 7.0 update 1d
As with all versions of Oracle Cloud VMware Solution, customers continue to maintain full control of their infrastructure running in OCI, including upgrading and patching their environments according to their own requirements and schedule. vSphere 7 on Oracle Cloud VMware Solution takes advantage of the industry’s first Layer 2 virtualized networking, deployed directly in a customer’s virtual cloud network (VCN). This connectivity provides VMware customers with low-latency, high-speed access to OCI’s complete portfolio of cloud services.
vSphere 7 is immediately available in all OCI commercial regions globally, including Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer. Availability for OCI government regions is coming soon.
