I’m excited to announce that we have two new Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certifications: Architect Professional and Operations Associate.

But before I share details about these new certifications, let me tell you about the momentum we’ve seen for existing Oracle Cloud Infrastructure certification programs.

Where We Started

We launched the first certification (Architect Associate) in February 2018. Our goals were to drive awareness of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and to increase the number of professionals in the market that are proficient with it. The Architect certification is for IT professionals who design cloud solutions. The professionals who attain this certification validate their knowledge of the platform and services, and build industry credibility with customers and peers.

More than 6000 individuals have attained the Architect Associate certification to date. With the exception of Java and Oracle Database certifications, the Architect Associate certification is the fastest-growing certification in the history of Oracle. Individuals in 84 countries have obtained it, which is a great validation of demand for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure-skilled professionals worldwide.

How We’ve Grown

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure launched with a single region and a few core services in late 2016. Since then, we’ve expanded to more than 50 services across core infrastructure, database, and developer services. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is now available in 16 regions worldwide, with a plan to have 36 regions by the end of 2020. Just last year, we launched more than 350 features and many new services, including Oracle Autonomous Database services, Functions, Events, Transit Routing, Key Management, and Web Application Firewall. We’re truly hitting our stride and providing customers with comprehensive services to modernize their core business on Oracle Cloud. The main Oracle website reflects the central place that Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has in the strategy of the company.

Our Newest Certifications

To reflect the significant growth of our services and features, we’re expanding our certification program by offering multilevel certification (and free training) paths for Solution Architects, Operators, and Developers. At OpenWorld 2019, we launched the Architect Professional and Operations Associate certifications:

  • The Architect Professional certification is the next level of credential for those who have already earned an Architect Associate title. You must have already earned the Associate level certification to qualify for this certification. Certified Architect Professionals must demonstrate the hands-on experience and knowledge required to plan, design, implement, and operate solutions on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Operations Associates must demonstrate the hands-on experience and knowledge required to automate cloud tasks, tune performance, troubleshoot, manage costs, manage security and compliance policies, implement data retention and archiving, and design for cloud-scale agility on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

We’re planning to make the requisite coursework for both certifications available for free. We’ll share details about that in the next few weeks.

And as always, we’re listening, so feel free to reach out and let us know your feedback at rohit.rahi@oracle.com.
