Bots, Bots Everywhere—and They’re About to Get Better

Barb Darrow
Senior Director of Communications, Oracle

If you’ve checked your bank account, booked a hotel room, or bought plane ticket online, you’ve probably encountered a chatbot in a little customer service box on the website. And you probably also noticed that your chatbot buddy can help in some rudimentary ways, but when things get the least bit complicated, it transfers you to an actual person.

But that’s about to change, says Suhas Uliyar, Oracle Vice President for Digital Assistants, AI, and Mobile Project Management. Bots, especially those that help employees do their jobs, are getting a lot smarter and more interactive, Uliyar says.

Uliyar is the guest on the debut episode of the Stories from the Cloud podcast, where he chats with hosts Barbara Darrow and Michael Hickins about the following topics:

  • How advances in AI and natural language processing, which enables voice activation, are making bots proactive and smart about what they can do for corporate employees
  • How digital assistants can help manage rote business tasks like expense account or vacation approval processes
  • How Oracle’s decades of experience building corporate applications—sales, ERP, and human capital management—give it a rich data set with which to train business-oriented bots
