The industry’s broadest and most integrated public cloud, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, offers best-in-class services for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), with deployment options ranging from the public cloud to the ability to consume cloud services in your own data center. By reducing IT complexity, Oracle Cloud helps organizations increase agility, drive innovation, and transform businesses.
Starting in June 2018, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure virtual machine shapes are supported with SAP NetWeaver based applications as well. These new shapes expand the instance options beyond the already-supported bare metal instances for SAP NetWeaver. With this step, we offer more flexibility and a broader portfolio to SAP customers.
Oracle works with SAP to certify and support SAP NetWeaver applications on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, making it easier for organizations to move Oracle-based SAP applications to the cloud. Oracle Cloud enables customers to run the same Oracle Database and SAP applications, preserving their existing investments while reducing costs and improving agility.
Unlike products from first-generation cloud providers, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is uniquely architected to support enterprise workloads. And it is the only cloud optimized for Oracle Database. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is also designed to provide the performance predictability, isolation, security, governance, and transparency required for SAP and other enterprise workloads.
With this announcement, you can run SAP Oracle-based applications in the cloud with the same control and capabilities as in your data center. And there is no need to retrain your teams. Be able to take advantage of performance and availability equal to or better than on-premises, while gaining the ability to deploy your highest performance applications (ones that require millions of consistent IOPs and millisecond latency) on elastic resources with pay-as-you-go flexibility. This means that you can run your Oracle-based SAP applications faster and at lower cost in the cloud! What's more, you can benefit from simple, predictable, and flexible pricing with universal credits. And when it comes to governance, you can compartmentalize shared cloud resources using simple policy language to provide self-service access while still maintaining centralized governance and visibility, even across complex organizations.
Oracle offers various shapes and grades—both bare metal and virtual—on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. These offerings enable more customers to deploy and access Oracle Database applications in the cloud with performance, security, and availability equal to or better than on-premises systems. You’ll gain performance that scales with ease.
Oracle and SAP have certified SAP NetWeaver and SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse-based applications to run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Exadata Cloud Service. SAP Business Objects based on 4.2 SP level 5 and above are supported as well. SAP Hybris is supported on Oracle Cloud, provided the requirements on the SAP Hybris Help Portal are met.
