Continuing our commitment to the US national security mission and DoD DISA (IL5) and FedRAMP High JAB authorizations, we’re pleased to announce that Oracle Government Cloud for the US Department of Defense (DoD) has received the first FedRAMP+ authorization for physical separation between DoD and non-DoD tenants and other security controls.
FedRAMP+
FedRAMP+ criteria uses the work done as part of a FedRAMP assessment and adds specific security controls and requirements necessary to meet and ensure DoD’s critical mission requirements. Oracle Government Cloud regions provide secure cloud environments for the US DoD and other federal customers to harness the power of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to unlock innovation and improve mission performance with enhanced security capabilities.
“Our government customers rely on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to offer the tools they need to quickly and efficiently migrate and manage workloads in the cloud, and ultimately, achieve better mission outcomes,” said Rand Waldron, vice president of Global Government Sector at Oracle. “This accreditation continues our commitment to equip government customers with world-class tools that offer leading security and compliance, consistent high performance, and simple and predictable pricing.”
DoD systems are categorized differently than other Federal Government systems, and the Security Requirements Guide (SRG) lists mother security controls and enhancements necessary for implementing DoD systems. These controls are over and above the FedRAMP baselines called plus controls. With FedRAMP+ authorization for Impact Level 5 systems (IL5) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle fulfills the DoD requirement of physical separation, such as dedicated infrastructure, from non-DoD and non-Federal Government tenants. This achievement also addresses DoD concerns regarding the comingling of DoD data with other tenant data from unintended data disclosure and the unauthorized access or tampering of DoD data by a non-DoD tenant.
Oracle Government Cloud is designed to provide US government agencies with security, reliability, and powerful management capabilities for large and complex deployments, all while beating industry performance and pricing standards, backed by Oracle’s industry-leading enterprise service license agreements (SLAs). Recognizing the importance of isolation even within a public cloud environment, OCI is the first to offer isolated network virtualization for every virtual machine (VM) and bare metal instance.OCI also designs regions with a non-blocking topology for maximum network performance and security. This system empowers customers to run bare metal servers, side by side with VMs and engineered systems. On top of our industry-leading tenant and workload isolation, Oracle Cloud for government offers a spectrum of cloud isolation models to our customers, enabling customers to choose deployment models that fit their security and compliance requirements.

Oracle Government Cloud enables an advantage for the DoD with cloud innovation and resilience. Oracle’s DISA IL5-authorized cloud environments support the DoD’s strategic objectives across multidomain war fighting capability and mission owner workloads. With Oracle, DoD joint forces can decisively maneuver and mobilize air, land, sea, and cyber capabilities in response to adversaries.
Strategizing and building a unified data environment
Simplified data strategies are becoming a priority as mission owners increasingly rely on data to make critical and strategic decisions. Unifying data environment is critical to use data at speed and scale for operational advantage and increased efficiency.
Oracle provides a comprehensive platform that provides analysts with an efficient way to consolidate data from multiple systems, spreadsheets, and other data sources into a trusted, maintainable, and query-optimized source.
OCI provides a complete data ecosystem in which a broad set of related cloud services work together automatically and often autonomously, such as Autonomous Linux and Autonomous Database. Machine learning and AI help IT departments eliminate downtime, spot performance anomalies, identify security risks, and automate troubleshooting activities. All Oracle Cloud solutions allow for flexible deployment models, enabling you to seamlessly migrate IT workloads from an on-premises data center to the cloud and back again.
OCI enables mission owners to build a unified data environment where data is visible, accessible, and can be retrieved anytime and anywhere. OCI data services help making data connected and understandable making it easy for users to recognize the content, context, and its applicability.
Accelerating innovation with multicloud and cloud native development for modern missions
Oracle Government Cloud is built to accelerate diverse and dynamic data- and processing-intensive workloads on unclassified and classified networks, all the way to the mission’s edge.
Defense organizations are striving to be more responsive to mission needs by quickly providing new, interoperable solutions that can be rapidly developed, deployed, and improvised. Cloud native development tools on OCI accelerate responsiveness capabilities with familiar, open source tools and processes for developers. Built on open standards APIs, enabled with virtual cloud interconnectivity and gateways, portable data formats, movable workloads between clouds, standard identity management, open source automation, and multicloud DevSecOps pipelines, OCI delivers true multicloud capabilities for mission modernization.
Designed for multicloud operations and priced for better economics, Oracle is one of the leading hyperscale cloud providers, with worldwide presence and dedicated operational regions for DoD missions.
Fortified security capabilities enabling enhanced cyber defense
Data is a strategic asset for the nation’s highest offices. Protecting it from dynamic cyberthreats is a critical priority. OCI’s security portfolio is designed to constantly monitor, detect, and mitigate cyberthreats automatically and provide centralized security configuration, posture management, and automated enforcement of security practices.
OCI provides natively secure capabilities, such as tenant and virtualized networking isolation, compartmentalization within a tenancy, and maximum-security zones, OCI’s fortified security capabilities enable continuous monitoring and auditing, automated threat identification, that provide resilience and elasticity, encryption at rest and in transit, securing data transfer, and an operating environment that optimizes resources while safeguarding sensitive data. OCI is designed with automated, always-on, and security by design.
OCI offers all the services DoD and intelligence communities need to migrate, build, and run all IT from existing enterprise workloads to new cloud native applications and data platforms. Our DoD regions provide more than 50 DISA IL5 authorized services, including Oracle Cloud Compute service, Oracle Digital Assistant, Oracle Cloud VMWare Solution, and Oracle Cloud Marketplace. All Oracle Government Cloud regions deliver high-performance computing power that meets the needs of every type of enterprise application with scale-up architectures for agencies that want to adopt cloud technologies and easily migrate critical applications at their own pace.
