We’re excited to announce the availability of a new set of cloud services, including Autonomous Database, that have achieved FedRAMP high Joint Authorization Board (JAB) accreditation in Oracle Government Cloud regions. With these services, government agencies and their partners have more options to advance their mission critical workloads in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Read press release in full.
In this blog post, we talk about the following services that are newly FedRAMP High JAB accredited and available:
-
Autonomous Database and Data Warehouse shared
-
Autonomous Database and Data Warehouse dedicated
-
Data Catalog service
-
Service Connector Hub
-
Oracle Integration Cloud
-
Public logging (includes VCN Flow Logs)
Oracle Autonomous Database
Oracle Cloud autonomous databases are fully managed, preconfigured databases. Compared to a manually managed database, the autonomous databases are easier to run, cost less, perform better, are more available, and eliminate human error. Autonomous databases are self-driven, self-securing, and self-repairing.
The autonomous databases are offered in both shared and dedicated infrastructure deployment choices on Exadata. Exadata’s offers superior performance and ultralow latencies that dynamically scale architectures and automatically adjusts to match changing workloads, providing true pay per use. While shared infrastructures offer simple and elastic databases, with Oracle handling maintenance operations, the dedicated version offers the highest degree of security and isolation for a single tenant adding the ability to customize operational policies to align Oracle autonomous operations with application lifecycles.
Autonomous Database service offers the following workload types that honor all the mentioned features:
-
Autonomous Transaction Processing is built for transaction processing workloads and offers high concurrency for short-running queries and transactions.
-
Autonomous Data Warehouse is built for decision support and data warehouse workloads and offers fast queries over large volumes of data.
-
Autonomous JSON Database is built for JSON-centric application development. It offers developer-friendly document APIs and native JSON storage.
-
Oracle APEX service is optimized for application developers who want a transaction processing database for application development. Oracle APEX enables the creation and deployment of low-code applications, including databases.
Other FedRAMP high JAB-authorized services
The following services have also achieved FedRAMP high JAB authorization:
-
OCI Data Catalog: A metadata management solution that helps customers find data in OCI and collects details to understand what data exists where and how it can be useful for analytics.
-
Service Connector Hub: A service that offers the capability to securely manage mobility of data between services. Customers can use the Service Connector Hub with our Functions service to automate tasks to move data between source and destination.
-
Oracle Integration Cloud: Services that allow customers to integrate their applications and automate processes to gain insight into business processes. Integration Cloud simplifies the connection of data sources, application, on-premises applications, and can even cross cloud solutions to create a unified end-user experience.
-
OCI Logging: A service enabling government customers to have a centralized view of various logs created by various cloud native services, including audit logs, VCN flow logs, and OCI Object Storage logs. VCN flow logs give customers visibility into the traffic that has traversed the virtual cloud network (VCN). The Logging service flow logs can help in troubleshooting issues and auditing network traffic.
Conclusion
All the services mentioned have received FedRAMP high JAB accreditation, the government program that sets the standard for assessing, authorizing, and monitoring cloud systems security. To attain these accreditations, Oracle utilized an accredited third-party assessment organization to complete a readiness assessment of the cloud service offerings for the authorization process. This accreditation proves Oracle‘s commitment to our government customer community.
