We’re pleased to announce the availability of Oracle Visual Builder Studio, running natively on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). You can find it under the Application Development menu in the Oracle Cloud Console.

Oracle Visual Builder Studio is a team development hub that integrates agile and collaborative development, code versioning, and continuous integration and delivery automation capabilities. As a foundation service, Visual Builder Studio is free to use for OCI customers. Visual Builder Studio offers development teams a platform to manage their development cycle with features that cover the full DevOps cycle from planning all the way to deployment. For Oracle Cloud Applications customers, Visual Builder Studio offers a platform for extending and configuring the new Oracle Redwood-based modules.

Team development and collaboration

Oracle Visual Builder Studio offers a platform for development teams to plan and track their development process and collaborate during the code lifecycle. The platform includes the following features:

  • Issue tracking system

  • Scrum and Kanban dashboards

  • Sprint planning and tracking

  • Wiki

  • Git repositories

  • Merge and pull request approval process

  • Peer code review

  • Team member management and authorization

  • Activity dashboard and email notifications

Continuous integration and delivery

Oracle Visual Builder Studio includes a continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) engine and a declarative web interface for creating build pipelines that automate packaging, testing, and deploying your code. Build processes can apply popular build, packaging, and testing frameworks, such as NPM, Maven, Gradle, Ant, JUnit, Selenium, SonarQube, and more, to automate CI/CD processes. Visual Builder Studio also offers declarative steps that automate deployment to platform services, such as Oracle Visual Builder, Oracle Integration, and Oracle Database.

VB Studio also includes support for steps that automate the lifecycle of Docker and project Fn images, with the ability to publish Docker images to Docker registries and deploy them using Kubernetes ctl commands. For infrastructure automation, Visual Builder Studio includes support for Terraform, Packer, and Helm and the ability to run scripts using the OCI command line interface (CLI).

Visual applications and Oracle Cloud Applications extensions

Visual Builder Studio includes a special feature for Visual Builder and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications developed using Visual Builder. The visual editing environment for creating and modifying apps is directly integrated into Visual Builder Studio and extended with deep Git integration and the ability to automate packaging and deploying Visual Applications and extensions developed on Oracle Cloud Applications modules. You can directly invoke Visual Builder Studio from applications to allow end users to customize specific pages in their apps and to publish those customizations.
