Offering Protected B classification compliant cloud services since 2019
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is committed to understanding the needs of Canadian public sector customers by helping to provide secure, reliable, and scalable cloud services backed by key compliance programs. We’re pleased to announce that 21 OCI services have been added to the scope of the Government of Canada (GC) Information Technology Security (ITS) requirements for medium categorization of information and services (Protected B), for a total of 76 OCI services that are now available within its Montreal and Toronto cloud regions. Some of these services include Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer, which enables organizations to run database workloads with less management, and OCI Vulnerability Scanning, which supports improvement to your security posture. Customers can browse the complete list of OCI Protected B assessed services by visiting the Government of Canada Cloud website.
Canadian government continues to define compliance and regulations in cloud space
In 2018, under a new cyber security initiative known as Canada’s National Cyber Security Strategy, the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) was established as Canada’s leading authority for defining a framework of safe and effective ways Canadians can store, process, and manage data. The CCCS provides cyber security guidance and information, including the ITS Assessment Program designed to assist GC departments in their evaluation of cloud service providers.
Also, under its new Government of Canada Cloud Adoption Strategy, established by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat, the Government of Canada has promoted the use of what is known as a “cloud-first” adoption strategy. Using cloud computing services like OCI, Canadian government agencies can access emerging technologies and enjoy the benefits of on-demand provisioning and cost savings of cloud infrastructure.
