Global Lead – Supply Chain Excellence, MTN
MTN’s collaboration with Oracle represents a milestone in how large, multi-country enterprises can leverage cloud technologies and AI to unify operations and accelerate performance. What stands out in this story is the scale and depth of transformation—from standardizing business processes across dozens of markets to embedding AI-driven insights directly into operational workflows.
By adopting Oracle Cloud Applications and Oracle Fusion AI Data Platform (FAIDP), MTN has created an integrated digital backbone that supports financial control, supply chain efficiency, and sustainability goals in equal measures. The move to FAIDP demonstrates a strategic shift away from fragmented, custom-built analytics toward a unified, governed data model—eliminating legacy complexity while empowering business leaders with faster, more accurate insights.
The measurable business outcomes highlighted—including improved cash conversion cycles, optimized freight and customs costs, and significant inventory and procurement efficiencies—show how modern analytics directly translate into working capital gains and cost savings. Equally, the sustainability initiatives under Project Infinity (MTN’s programs to enact responsible consumption and circular economy practices in local communities) exemplify how data can drive concrete Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) results, turning environmental responsibility into business value.
MTN’s Supply Chain Excellence function is redefining analytics as an enabler of resilience. The Nerve Center initiative and MTN’s broader use of AI for risk prediction, disruption management, and supplier optimization position the company as a leader in digital maturity among emerging‑market operators.
This partnership between MTN and Oracle demonstrates that cloud transformation in Africa is not just about technology—it’s about enabling connected intelligence and sustainable growth at continental scale. It’s a strong example of how modern data platforms and strong leadership can bridge the digital divide, transforming both business outcomes and communities.
Looking ahead, Fusion AI Data Platform will become the core foundation for how MTN industrializes AI across finance, supply chain and operations, not just for reporting but also for decision automation at scale. By consolidating Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications data with external operational, network, and logistics data into a single governed model, we expect to accelerate use cases such as predictive risk scoring, AI-assisted planning, and near real-time working capital optimization across all major markets.
We see particular value in Oracle’s embedded AI agents and Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) capabilities available through FAIDP, which will allow business users to interact with data in natural language, surface anomalies automatically, and receive prescriptive recommendations directly in the flow of work. Over time, we plan to expand our current deployments beyond finance and supply chain into areas such as field service, preventive maintenance on GSM towers, customer experience, and ESG performance management, using the same trusted data foundation to power both descriptive and generative AI.
Our roadmap includes migrating more of MTN’s custom analytics like the Nerve Center onto FAIDP so that Oracle’s AI services can work on a richer, cleaner, and more connected data sets. This will enable advanced scenarios like AI-driven supplier risk sensing, automated exception handling in intercompany and trade compliance, and intelligent inventory placement recommendations that continuously learn from actual demand and network performance. In doing so, we expect Oracle’s AI Data Platform to play a pivotal role in scaling self-service analytics, shortening time-to-insight, and ultimately supporting MTN’s mission to bridge the digital divide with smarter, more resilient operations across Africa.
Editor’s note: congratulations to MTN on their 2026 Oracle Excellence Awards! MTN won the Finance and Supply Chain category and was a finalist in the Data Analytics and AI category.
