What do organizations of all shapes and sizes want when it comes to data, analytics, and AI to help them make the best decisions?

  • They want people—regardless of their role— to gain the most relevant insights quickly—and they want these insights within their existing workflows and SaaS applications.
  • Simultaneously they want to end-to-end, ready-to-use data products to meet their unique data and analytics needs efficiently. Ideally, they’d like this delivered as cloud services that they don’t have to build and maintain themselves.

Oracle’s twofold vision for Data Intelligence exceeds these two needs.  Our deep understanding of enterprise business processes via Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, coupled with our innovative analytics and AI portfolio, leading database technologies, and powerful infrastructure, allows us to deliver a unified data experience that goes beyond currently available offerings.

Part 1: Data Intelligence Apps

We launched the first part of our Data Intelligence vision – the apps – at Oracle CloudWorld 2023 with the announcement of Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence, a suite of SaaS products designed to help people make smart decisions, aided by AI-powered recommendations, and execute them seamlessly within their daily workflows. With the ability to take Oracle and non-Oracle data sources and easily blend them together in a unified analytics solution, Fusion Data Intelligence gives our customers a 360-degree view of all of their enterprise data for a single source of truth.

For example, as part of our Supply Chain Command Center, we are enabling Oracle Fusion Supply Chain Management customers to connect easily with pre-built pipelines that combine their supply chain data with that of third-party stakeholders including logistics providers and carriers, as well as data sources related to geo-political topics, weather, and financial risk events. And with the addition of the latest AI innovations embedded directly within normal workflows, supply chain leaders can detect issues faster and make better decisions.

Fusion Data Intelligence provides a standard Data Intelligence experience to the many industries and customers Oracle serves via its ERP, SCM, HCM, and CX apps portfolio. As an embedded part of Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Fusion Data Intelligence apps are ready to use, bringing faster time-to-value and ongoing maintenance advantages over build-and-deploy-it-yourself approaches.

Part 2: Data Intelligence Platform

This year we continue to focus on executing our vision of the Oracle Data Intelligence Platform. The Data Intelligence Platform integrates data warehousing, data lake, AI, and custom analytics into an all-encompassing platform designed to meet the unique demands of modern enterprises.

To be specific, the Data Intelligence Platform is a set of OCI services that enable our customers to build their own data intelligence solutions. A foundational component of the platform is the newly announced open Intelligent Data Lake in OCI Object Storage. The data lake comes with a unified catalog, open-source engines such as Spark and Flink, and a modern developer experience. Oracle Intelligent Data Lake is expected to enter limited availability in 2025. Building on top of the data lake, the Data Intelligence Platform supports numerous capabilities that organizations might want, including complex data integration and orchestration, data engineering, data warehousing, BI and analytics, streaming analytics, AI and data science.

For example, consider a global retailer: by leveraging Oracle Intelligent Data Lake, their analytics team can unify structured data, including sales transactions and inventory levels, with unstructured data, such as customer reviews and social media sentiment. With Oracle Analytics Cloud and AI-powered tools, they can rapidly build new retail analytics dashboards, uncover emerging trends, optimize stock levels in real-time, and personalize marketing campaigns—all within a single, integrated platform.

To enable these use cases, the Data Intelligence Platform provides deep integration between the data lake and Autonomous Data Warehouse, Oracle Analytics Cloud, and AI services.

Key features of the Oracle Data Intelligence Platform include:

  • Improved data integration: enables analysts to combine first and third-party data, whether structured or unstructured, to reduce laborious administrative tasks involving cleansing, governing, and securing data. This helps customers boost productivity and operational efficiency, address large-scale data workloads, and lower costs.
  • Native integrations with Oracle portfolios and open source standards: helps users by providing native integrations with Oracle’s data, analytics, and AI portfolios—including Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse and Oracle Analytics Cloud—as well as with open source standards such as Kafka, Delta Lake, Iceberg, and Parquet. This enables organizations to benefit from new insights based on raw, detailed, or third-party data.
  • Generative AI-powered experiences: enables organizations to leverage powerful generative AI-powered features to streamline workflows and enhance productivity by simplifying code generation, enabling conversational analytics, and facilitating the creation of dashboards with minimal technical expertise.

Oracle Intelligent Data Lake, a key enabler of the Oracle Data Intelligence Platform

The new Oracle Intelligent Data Lake will rearchitect services such as OCI Data Lake, OCI Data Catalog, OCI Data Integration, OCI Data Flow with Apache Spark, and Jupyter Notebook capabilities into a single cohesive environment for building data lakes, extending analytical applications with real-time data, transforming data, and creating end-to-end data orchestration.

Oracle Intelligent Data Lake is designed to deliver a unified experience that eliminates the need to manage and integrate a patchwork of individual data and AI services. Providing a single, cohesive environment that consolidates these tasks frees developers from labor-intensive processes, helping to significantly reduce the risk of errors and provide a more secure and streamlined data management experience.

Why Combined Content and Capability Wins

Oracle’s Data Intelligence vision is unique, because it includes content, in the form of Data Intelligence apps, and capabilities, in the form of a unified Data Intelligence Platform. No other cloud hyperscaler or specialist provider can match the span of value and vision offered by this combination.

The Oracle Data Intelligence Platform is designed to deliver a unified experience that simplifies data management and accelerates the journey from raw data to actionable insights in a way that only Oracle can, with seamless integration and governance encompassing apps to data management.

With the Oracle Data Intelligence Platform and Oracle Intelligent Data Lake service rounding out Oracle’s Data Intelligence portfolio, we are enabling organizations to transform their data into a strategic asset and make better, faster decisions that drive growth and innovation.
