Oracle Academy staff were delighted to attend the British Irish Chamber of Commerce Higher Education and Research Conference, held in Iveagh House Dublin, the Department of Foreign Affairs on April 15, 2024.

The event was a networking opportunity for delegates from a variety of universities and third level educational institutes across the islands of Ireland and Great Britain. It was also attended by several UK and Ireland government representatives, sponsors the Science Foundation Ireland and the University of Wales, along with many distinguished guests.

The agenda was created to inform participants about the implications of the UK’s associate country status to Horizon Europe, how this welcome development will present new opportunites for the UK – Irish relationship, and how best to foster these emerging prospects.

The event focused on the potential for ongoing and increased collaboration between Ireland and the United Kingdom as Horizon Europe partners with a focus on successful case studies such as the UK-Ireland ”Blue Adapt” Horizon Europe project to study the impact of climate change on coastal pathogens. It emphasised the value of those early years connections, which naturally occur amongst students who travel accross Eurpoe as they progress in their academic and professional careers.

The conference discussed the mechanisms that should be developed to directly strengthen this important bilateral relationship to reach new horizons together. As the global education arm of Oracle, Oracle Academy is pleased to be a part of this important collaboration.
