The third edition of TN’Teens took place on March 28, 2024, in the conference hall of the Digital Learning Hub, Luxembourg, gathering 250 students from various schools in Luxembourg and the greater region. Oracle Academy was proud to be one of the sponsors of this full day of fun and learning in the technological field.

TN’Teens aims to immerse young individuals into the heart of technology, providing them with the chance to be at the forefront of the latest innovations and engage with industry experts. This event is designed to provide access to education, offering a unique opportunity for participants to gain insights into the diverse possibilities of technology and discover the excitement of working in this field.

The program

The high school students started the day with a series of workshops, led by companies in Luxembourg’s tech industry. Each of these workshops offered the younger generation a hands-on, interactive approach to learning, around the captivating realms of AI, blockchain, coding, virtual reality, and cybersecurity.

Oracle Academy workshop

Yves Moriceau, Partner Sales Account Manager, and Gilles Haro, Principal Account Cloud Engineer, both at Oracle, hosted a workshop: ‘Build a Social Media App Using Oracle APEX!’. Support leading up to the event was provided by Robert Pastijn, Distinguished Product Manager in the Database Product Development team at Oracle.

In this workshop, they taught the students step-by-step how to create a social media app where users can upload images, like other users' posts, and delete the uploaded images. While building this application, the developer learns to create pages, regions, customize the UI and create dynamic actions. Optionally, the developers also learn to get user device location by implementing map regions.

There were two sessions of one hour and 30 minutes each with full attendance and high engagement, with the students being very invested and asking great questions!

Quiz

After the lunch break, the students were challenged during an interactive knowledge test, called the “Big Quiz”. They were encouraged to showcase their understanding of the different tech concepts illustrated during the day, along with general knowledge. For the final round, each of the five finalists received mentorship from a member of the Luxembourg technology community.
Sebastien Hans,
Vice President, CSS EMEA Service Solution Architecture/Country Leader, Oracle Luxembourg, went on stage to present one of the questions on behalf of Oracle.

Oracle Academy was proud to sponsor this amazing event. Oracle Academy, Oracle’s global philanthropic educational program, is open to educators around the world to advance technology education, skills, innovation, and diversity and inclusion.

The program gives students the knowledge to master the same unbreakable low code platform industry experts use. APEX is the world’s most popular enterprise cloud-based development platform, whose superpower is requiring very little code. It enables users to build scalable, secure enterprise apps, with world-class features, that can be deployed anywhere ― on premises or in the cloud.

Oracle Academy provides Institutional members and their students with free access to Oracle APEX for knowledge building and hands-on practice. Our Oracle Academy APEX platform provides educators with a dedicated instance designed specifically for classroom use with up to 99 students, providing the perfect environment to support labs and applied practice for our database curriculum as well as many Oracle Academy Education Bytes.

Whether it’s to build a new cloud and mobile app, or convert a spreadsheet into an app, with APEX, developers can quickly create and deploy apps that solve real problems and provide immediate value. APEX developers have created a wealth of solutions for problems large and small, turning ideas into compelling apps.

Developers don’t need to be experts in a vast array of technologies to deliver sophisticated solutions. They can focus on solving problems and use the features of APEX to take care of the rest.
