On May 20–21, 2023, educational enthusiasts, tech innovators, and passionate educators gathered at the Back to School Africa Expo to deliberate on the African education landscape. The event featured presentations, exhibitions, collaborations, and recognized the efforts of individuals/organizations dedicated to transforming education in Ethiopia. It was themed ‘Making the Best Out of Technology in the Africa Higher Education System.’

Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, SSA, made a presentation and shared insights on ‘Promoting Innovation through Technology Education.’ She introduced the Oracle Academy program and how its aim is advancing technology education globally. She explained the benefits of the program to four-year colleges and universities and how academic institutions can sign up to become members. Bekere also reiterated the free teaching and learning resources available for cloud computing, Java, database, data science, and project management and our free Oracle Cloud for educators and their students.

On the last day of the event, the Education Honors Awards were announced, with Oracle Academy recognized and awarded ‘Best Promoter of Technology Education in Ethiopia.’ The award is a significant milestone in the program's journey in Ethiopia. It acknowledges the hard work, dedication, and passion of the team, partners, and supporters. We firmly believe that access to quality technology education is crucial for equipping young minds with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital age.

Oracle Academy remains committed to creating and providing an educational environment that prepares technology students for the challenges of the future, equips them with the relevant skills, and empowers them to lead in a rapidly evolving world.
