On October 26, 2023, Oracle Academy hosted a bootcamp designed for higher education faculty from French-speaking countries in Sub Saharan Africa. With over 70 educators in attendance, this event aimed to introduce educators to various Oracle technologies available for teaching and learning within the Oracle Academy program.

With the theme ‘Transformer votre enseignement et votre apprentissage avec Oracle Cloud et APEX,’ the objective of the webinar was designed to equip tertiary teachers with the knowledge and skills to reach new heights in Oracle Cloud and Oracle APEX. The day was focused on aligning teaching of Oracle Academy curriculum with industry needs for future talent, incorporating hands-on projects and equipping the faculty with the required skills for teaching students cloud computing and Oracle APEX.

The bootcamp featured experienced Oracle Solution Engineering and Sales representatives from different countries, each bringing expertise in specific Oracle technologies. The presentations offered invaluable insights into different technology domains, which was enlightening for educators.

Oracle APEX – Marc Gueury, Oracle Belgium

Gueury, a Master Principal Account Cloud Engineer, demystified the world of Oracle APEX, its compatibility, deployment options, and architecture, shedding light on how educators can help students build apps faster. The session empowered educators with the know-how to align their curriculum with the growing need for low-code/no-code development environments in real time.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure – Baufabiol Kouassi, Oracle Cote D'Ivoire

Kouassi, an Account Cloud Engineer, presented on OCI, giving an overview of OCI architecture and global compliance, as well as conducting hands-on labs. His session provided an overarching understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, thereby empowering educators to employ Oracle Academy’s OCI curriculum, which is aligned with industry needs. The hands-on session was filled with practical projects that demonstrated how educators could integrate real-world scenarios into their teaching.

Other speakers included:

  1. David Dacruz Evora, Country Leader, Oracle Senegal (representing Annick Sakho, Country Leader, Oracle Cote D’Ivoire)
  2. Danny Gooris, Director, Oracle Academy, EMEA
  3. Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub Saharan Africa

The balance between theoretical concepts and practical applications was just right. I’m now better equipped to teach my students about Oracle APEX and OCI. Thank you, Oracle Academy!” Pamphile Kouassi, Mathematics teacher and Oracle Academy faculty in Cote D’Ivoire, said, “I am very happy to have learned several fabulous tools and the environment of Oracle Cloud during this intensive bootcamp.
