Oracle Academy honored at Tanzania Innovation Week and Digital Awards

Oracle Academy was recognized at the 2024 Innovation Week Tanzania and Digital Awards in Dar es Salaam for its significant contributions in advancing digital transformation in Tanzania. This recognition highlights Oracle Academy's commitment to enabling technological growth and innovation within the country by collaborating with educational institutions and non-governmental institutions to provide free tools and training educators need to engage, inspire and prepare students to become the next technology innovators and leaders of the future.

The 4-day event ran from 21 – 22 May 2024, bringing together key players in the digital innovation ecosystem. Oracle Academy was honored alongside esteemed organizations such as the UK International Development Programme and UNDP Funguo programme. These organizations, like Oracle Academy, are dedicated to driving digital transformation and supporting Tanzania's technological development.

The award was presented to Oracle Academy by Mr. Anderson Mutatembwa, Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister’s Office (Policy, Parliament, and Coordination). Representing Oracle Academy at the event was Karim Nyumba, student lead at the  University of Dar Es Salaam ICT Innovation hub, College of Information and Communication Technologies, who graciously accepted the award. His presence, along with other UDICTI  student leaders, highlighted the collaborative spirit and educational focus that Oracle Academy embodies.

Innovation Week Tanzania has grown significantly since its inception in 2015. Emerging from the collaborative efforts of key players within the innovation ecosystem, it has been guided by the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH) . Overseen by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST) through the Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation (DSTI), Innovation Week Tanzania has evolved into a distinguished national event. The event provides a platform and an extensive network of activities for stakeholders to actively participate and showcase their work, thereby contributing to the development of a vibrant technology ecosystem in Tanzania. The Tanzania Digital Awards, organized by Serengeti Bytes, celebrate creativity, innovation, and effectiveness in utilizing digital spaces to drive positive societal changes in Tanzania. These awards recognize individuals and organizations that effectively leverage digital platforms to inspire action, bring about change, and create a lasting impact both within and beyond the online community.

The recognition of Oracle Academy at this prestigious event not only celebrates its achievements but also brings to light the collaborative efforts necessary to drive digital transformation. By working together with public and private partners, Oracle Academy continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education and technology in Tanzania.

Oracle’s leadership in emerging technologies and cloud development spurs Oracle Academy’s innovation-focused curriculum, resources and technology. Oracle Academy offers educators free computing and technology resources for teaching and learning. This includes curriculum, learning resources, Oracle Cloud technologies, Oracle APEX, a wide range of software, technical support, professional development opportunities for educators, and professional certification resources.
