On January 27, 2023, Oracle Academy was delighted to be awarded the ‘Computing Students’ Impact Award’ by the Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS). The award was in recognition of the program’s immense contribution to the enhancement and development of Nigeria students through technology and learning resources.
The award was presented at the NACOS National Female Conference, themed ‘Promoting Digital Inclusion: Bridging The Gap’ which had in attendance over 100 female undergraduate students across Nigerian tertiary institutions, and also key players in the Nigeria technology sector.
During the conference, Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, Sub Saharan Africa, spoke to the students with a presentation themed ‘ICT as a Tool For Women Economic Empowerment.’
She detailed the benefits of ICT in social and economic empowerment, how ICT can promote economic empowerment for women, and the role of education in promoting women’s and girls’ participation in the field of ICT. She also explained how technology knowledge and skills are important, and how Oracle Academy provides free technology education learning resources for teachers, institutions, and students. Through their faculty, students can access resources to upskill themselves with knowledge and hands-on practice in industry-relevant skills.
As Oracle’s global, philanthropic educational program, Oracle Academy remains committed to closing the digital skills gap in Nigeria by providing learning resources to increase knowledge, innovation, skills development, and diversity in technology fields.
