Oracle Academy was delighted to support the 20th edition of the Thesis of 2024 Tesi Prize, “Innovation in Information Security,” at the Virtual Security Summit in association with Clusit.
Roberta Battagli, Oracle Academy Program Manager, Italy, was a distinguished guest at the event as well as Andrea Romano, Senior Research Manager, Oracle Labs. At the event, held on September 9, 2025, university students presented their research in relation to cybersecurity and were assessed and judged by a commission composed of members of Clusit and other experts in the field.
The evaluation criteria were:
• the innovation of the topic covered
• the complexity of the work done
• the level of knowledge shown
• the usability of the results achieved
Established with the aim of research and continuous updating of resources in relation to cybersecurity, the annual event aims to encourage master’s and PhD students to research topics of cybersecurity and IT security issues in an agile manner and with a view of the evolution of new and potential cyber threats. The event also is an opportunity for exchange between the global world of research and science, students and that of working professionals, promoting collaboration between universities and companies for training and professional growth.
The winners were:
First place – Eleonora Amadori – Wireless Drone Charging Profiling and Fingerprinting – University of Padua
Second place – Luca Minnei – Tackling Concept Drift with Semi-supervised Malware Detection – University of Cagliari
Third place – Christian Scano – ModSec-AdvLearn: Improving ModSecurity with Adversarial Learning – University of Cagliari
Fourth place, tied – Nicholas Miazzo – Leveraging Graph of Thoughts and Large Language Models for Advanced Vulnerability Detection – University of Padua
Fourth place, tied – Samuele del Vescovo – Adversarial Attacks on IDS and Multidomain Impact Analysis for Threat Intelligence in Military Automotive Scenarios – University of Bari
