Recently, Dusa Vuković, Oracle Academy Instructor and Director of Računarska gimnazija (Computer Science Grammar School), and Ljiljana Krkić, Oracle Academy Program Manager, presented at this year’s fifth annual Digital Education 2024 conference on ways Oracle Academy is helping advance technology education, skills, innovation and diversity and inclusion across the globe, and what programs are being implemented in Serbia and the region.

This year’s conference was held in a hybrid format. Participants had the opportunity to attend live sessions and workshops in Belgrade, while those joining remotely followed the main conference program via live streaming. The conference attracted over 4,000 participants and featured presentations from 40 speakers from both Serbia and abroad.

The event was organized by the Center for Educational Technologies Western Balkans in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Institute for Education Improvement, the Institute for Quality Evaluation in Education, the UNICEF Office in Serbia, Oracle Academy, the Loop Foundation, and Microsoft.

The main program featured panel discussions on current trends in digital education, challenges within the educational system, the impact of artificial intelligence, and the future development of digital education policies. In parallel with the main program, interactive workshops were held for all educational levels, covering topics such as the use of digital tools in early childhood education, self-assessment applications, the integration of artificial intelligence in education, and accessibility in the field of digital inclusion.

The conference’s partners showcased their initiatives and programs, sharing insights into how they are contributing to the educational landscape. The conference aimed to enable participants to learn from one another, share experiences, and collaborate on solving common challenges. By promoting a culture of innovation and cooperation, the event strives to enrich the educational sector with the latest insights into policies, practices, technology, and digital tools—essential for maintaining competitiveness in a global environment.

Key challenges and opportunities addressed during the conference highlighted that while digital education offers limitless possibilities, it also faces obstacles such as a lack of resources and expertise in some educational institutions for the effective integration of technology. With the growing influence of artificial intelligence, there is a pressing need to further explore how these advancements can shape the future of education.

Prior to the main conference, a Policy Day was held as a continuation of last year’s discussions on the impact of artificial intelligence in education.
