The Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT) recently organized a roundtable discussion titled “BAIT in Support of Education”, and gathered interesting speakers who discussed a variety of support options that IT companies and organizations can provide to STEM education.
Panelists in the discussion were:
- Nataliya Miteva, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science;
- Miglena Temelkova, Chairperson of the Council of Rectors;
- Margarita Yanakieva, Director of the High Technology Professional School “A. S. Popov”
as well as the representatives of three companies working in the field of education:
- Ivo Rusev, Chief Commercial Director, Telelink Business Services
- Yanko Bakhchevanov, Head of the Sales Department, Kontrax AD
- Velina Topalova, Senior Technology Software Sales Representative, Oracle
The discussion was moderated by Assoc. Ph.D. Natalia Futekova, Deputy Chairperson of BAIT Managing Board, and guests were invited from the Regions of Departments of Education, school principals, representatives of higher education institutions, media, and IT companies.
Amongst the topics discussed during the roundtable was the importance of:
- close cooperation between the educational sector, businesses, and governmental organizations;
- seeing artificial intelligence as an opportunity, not only as a challenge, and its impact on education;
- creation of multidisciplinary education with a lot of practical knowledge beside theoretical;
- expansion of digital competence and digital literacy;
- building proper strategies and centers, digitalization of education, change of processes, and change of markets;
- level of knowledge and practical experience that students entering workforce have;
- and many more.
