The 2025 Technovation Girls Regional Pitch Event, held on May 31, at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, brought together over 100 girls from across Lagos to pitch tech-based solutions addressing community problems.
Organized by CODES Foundation as part of the global Technovation Girls initiative, the event marked the culmination of 14 weeks of teamwork, coding, and innovation. The event featured a welcome address, icebreakers, live pitches (junior and senior divisions), judge deliberations, feedback, awards, and certificate presentations.
Technovation Girls is a global tech education program that equips girls with the skills to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. This year’s Lagos Regional Pitch Event was more than a competition; it was a movement of bold young changemakers turning their ideas into impact.
Oracle Academy played a key role in the success of this event by providing judges, gift items, and mentoring support throughout the program. In teams of 2–5, the girls developed mobile apps and AI-powered solutions tackling pressing local challenges like access to education, post-partum care, gender-based violence, and environmental sustainability. Each team pitched their solution to a panel of esteemed judges including Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, SSA, who provided feedback and encouragement.
Key statistics:
● 125 teams registered from Lagos
● 31% completed and submitted their projects
● 11 junior division teams attended the Lagos RPE
● 11 senior division teams attended the pitch event
● 4 teams advanced to the global semifinals:
○ Cyberfinity – Junior Division
○ The Radiant Five – Junior Division
○ CuraTech – Senior Division
○ M.E.C.A – Senior Division
In a world where the gender gap in tech remains wide, events like the Technovation Girls Lagos Regional Pitch are essential. They do more than teach code; by supporting this initiative, Oracle Academy continues to champion the next generation of tech trailblazers, especially girls who might otherwise be left behind.
Some of the teams will now move on to the global Technovation judging round, with the chance to compete internationally. But even beyond prizes, every participant is walking away with new skills, new connections, and a new sense of possibility.
