Through a series of high impact events over the past year, Oracle Academy has made remarkable strides in strengthening its footprint in Pakistan
Igniting curiosity at NUML Rawalpindi
Our journey began at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Rawalpindi, where over 100 enthusiastic students and faculty members joined us for an Oracle Academy awareness session where Oracle Academy staff demonstrated the Member Hub, highlighting the free, high-quality teaching and learning resources available for educators and students.
We were honored to be joined by Mr. Saad Bin Viqar, Senior Sales Technology Manager at Oracle, who delivered a thought-provoking session on Oracle Cloud. His insights into the role of cloud technologies in shaping the future captivated the audience and encouraged students to consider careers in emerging tech fields. The energy and curiosity in the room were truly inspiring.
Connecting educators nationwide with a virtual faculty session
Next, we hosted a virtual session tailored for faculty members across Pakistan, attended by 36 educators representing institutions nationwide. The session featured Miss Anuradha Sharma, Head of South Asia, Oracle Academy, who shared an in-depth overview of Oracle Academy’s initiatives in Southeast Asia, the free teaching and learning resources we provide, and the impact we aim to create through accessible tech education.
We were proud to spotlight success stories from our network. Dr. Abdul Basit from LUMS shared how Oracle Academy has enriched his teaching, and encouraged fellow faculty members to explore our resources. Additionally, Dr. Tamim Iqbal from Bahria University Islamabad emphasized the value Oracle Academy brings to teaching, and strongly recommended its adoption.
On-site faculty orientation at IIUI
Responding to an invitation from Dr. Zahid Nasir, Head of Management Studies at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), we conducted an in-person Oracle Academy orientation session. Eight faculty members attended, engaging in a comprehensive walkthrough of the Member Hub and learning how to effectively integrate our free curriculum and tools into their classroom. These in-person sessions continue to play a crucial role in building long-term collaborations and institutional engagement.
Regional virtual event: Explore, Learn, Lead: A Journey into Oracle Cloud & Databases
Culminating our year was a major virtual session titled “Explore, Learn, Lead: A Journey into Oracle Cloud & Databases.” Drawing nearly 700 participants from Pakistan and Sri Lanka, this event served as a gateway to understanding Oracle’s technology landscape.
Mr. Damian Haas, Senior Regional Director Asia Pacific, Oracle Academy, opened the session with a powerful address highlighting the mission and impact of Oracle Academy globally. This was followed by an engagement session led by Mr. Naqi Mirza, Oracle Technology Director, who walked participants through Oracle Cloud and database technologies. His live Q&A wrapped up the session on a high note, with attendees leaving informed and inspired.
Looking ahead, these events underscore Oracle Academy’s unwavering commitment to empowering educators and learners with future-ready skills and knowledge. Whether on campus or online, our focus remains clear: to democratize access to high-quality computer science education and build a technology-empowered generation across South Asia and beyond.
As we look forward to the coming months, we are excited to continue collaborating with institutions, faculty, and students to further this mission. Not a member? Join now. Learn more at academy.oracle.com.
