Oracle’s Lagos office welcomed the winning teams of the Future Innovation Competition alongside teachers, and facilitators for an unforgettable day of technology exploration and mentorship. This collaborative event with AfriEdutech City reflected Oracle Academy’s ongoing commitment to empowering young minds and fostering inclusion in tech across Africa. The distinguished schools included Oenomel School, Corona Schools Lekki, Bethesda Home & School for the Blind, and Wesley School for the Deaf.
The tour began with a warm welcome and safety briefing, helping attendees familiarize themselves with Oracle’s dynamic corporate culture and its focus on well-being. Shortly thereafter, participants gathered for an inspiring company overview. Oracle Academy Program Manager, Bekere Amassoma shared the company’s global mission and impact and afterwards, Bekere anchored the skills development/mentorship session where she shared about global tech roles such as AI Engineering, Cloud Architecture, Data Analysis, Software Development, Project Management etc. She also provided guidance on building a future in STEAM, Robotics, and AI and quick tips on leadership, innovation, and problem solving.

Later, the winning teams confidently presented demo projects developed during the competition. From smart automated home security systems that detect intruders and instantly alert homeowners to smart irrigation farming solutions designed to conserve water, fight drought, and increase food production and self-driving car prototypes that can detect obstacles, make real-time decisions, and pave the way for safer transportation, it was an array of technical displays.
A dedicated mentorship session provided crucial guidance and encouragement. Oracle professionals shared their journeys and offered practical advice on pursuing careers as AI Engineers, Cloud Architects, Data Analysts, and innovators in STEAM and robotics. The conversation emphasized leadership, innovation, and problem-solving, encouraging students from all backgrounds, including those from Bethesda Home & School for the Blind and Wesley School for the Deaf, to aim high and embrace the opportunities ahead.

The day wrapped up with group photos, and opportunities for students to share their key learning moments. The closing remarks highlighted the power of collaboration and the importance of nurturing future innovators. By bringing together diverse student groups and industry role models, the visit will fuel the passion for innovation among Nigeria’s next generation of tech leaders.
