Oracle Academy is delighted to support Technological University Dublin and its partner universities — Vilnius Gediminas Technical University from Lithuania, Riga Technical University from Latvia, Tallinn University of Technology from Estonia, and University of Rijeka Faculty of Economics and Business from Croatia — working together on the Erasmus-funded project, KA220-HED: Embracing rapid application development (RAD) skills opportunity as a catalyst for employability and innovation.

In this project, Oracle APEX, a platform designed for the swift development of web and mobile applications using little to no code, is being used as a tool to prepare students for digital transformation roles. The project targets students with technical and business backgrounds and is focused on developing foundational and intermediary courses, each worth 3 European Credit Transfer (ECT) hours and implemented at the five European universities mentioned above.

Prof. Róisín Faherty, Head of Research and Innovation for the Faculty of Computing, Digital and Data at Technological University Dublin (TU Dublin), presented at our recent webinar providing details of the project and its implementation at TU Dublin, which included feedback received from their students. The project team developed five business cases, which were discussed during the webinar. There is also a publicly available related e-book for students and staff.

The project team ran a hackathon at TU Dublin as well, both in person and online for the partner university students. The hackathon was designed to engage and empower students with RAD Skills. This event also hosted guest talks on technology and employment opportunities.

Some of the outcomes of the project included a more engaged student cohort, excellence in the project outputs from students, and building of new higher education international relationships and cooperation opportunities.
