In celebration of International Women’s Day, Oracle Academy chose to sponsor an empowering event for girls organized by Adfaber. The event was hosted at the Gheorghe Șincai National College in Bucharest and aimed to inspire and encourage girls to explore careers in technology by connecting them with women who work in technology.

Volunteers from Oracle Women’s Leadership shared their career journeys, highlighting the diverse opportunities in IT beyond just programming. They encouraged the students to embrace the tech world with confidence and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.

The event agenda included hands-on learning experiences, where students discovered Java programming and explored the Alice platform — a tool designed to introduce Java coding through interactive storytelling.

Additionally, Adfaber’s team led an engaging discussion on online safety, equipping students with essential digital literacy skills.

At this event, 54 girls from grades 9 to 11 from eight different high schools in Bucharest had the opportunity to work together with Oracle Romania Volunteers. All the participating girls were delighted to spend time and converse about future career paths with our Oracle colleagues.

“It is crucial for girls to be exposed to role models and opportunities in technology from an early age. Seeing women succeed in IT helps them realize that this field is just as much for them as it is for anyone else. We were thrilled to receive positive feedback from the coordinating teachers, who emphasized how valuable this experience was for their students,” said Alin Chiriac, Founder of Adfaber.

“Being in front of the kids for couple of hours helped me to recharge. The level of their energy and engagement during the app creation demo was fantastic and this is always nice to see, especially when dealing with teenagers,” said Violeta Pinsler (Blendea), Digital Adoption Manager, Oracle. “It was fantastic to see so many of the girls were interested in how the app is built and their commitment to finish the demo was truly appreciated. I encourage them all to keep exploring and experimenting and have in mind that only sky is the limit when working in a technology environment.”

“It was a joy to participate, along with my colleagues, to the O4G events that took place in 2024 and 2025, because I got to see so many girls that are passionate about technology and can develop for themselves a beautiful career. Through these meetings, I wanted to motivate teenagers to study and develop their technical abilities because these will help them to be always on their own two feet and have a grounded career in a world that is changing perpetually, especially in a world where artificial intelligence will have a considerable impact,” said Anca Munteanu, Principal SaaS Cloud Technologist, Oracle. “A cultivated person has more opportunities, has a better quality of life and the technical knowledge helps in being always practical, anchored in reality, and finding solutions.”

Thank you to Adfaber and our Oracle Volunteer colleagues, Violeta Pinsler (Blendea), Andreea Munteanu, Oana Aurelia Bonu, Emma Palii, Roxana Chiriacescu, and Camelia Ditescu for the wonderful moments spent with the young girls on this project!
