Recently, Oracle Academy hosted a group of 60 computer science students and staff from The European Institute of Technology (EPITECH), Benin Republic, at the Oracle Office, Lagos, Nigeria on a study tour.
The visit on March 30, 2023, began with a brief presentation by Oracle Academy Program Manager Bekere Amassoma about the company, its history, and its current projects. She discussed with the students the different teams within the company and their roles, as well as the tools and technologies used. The students were particularly interested in the latest software and hardware Oracle offers and works with, as well as the challenges faced in keeping up with rapidly changing technology.
One of the highlights of the visit was a Q&A session with some Oracle Volunteers. The students were able to ask questions about their jobs, how they got into the technology industry, and what advice they had for students interested in pursuing a career in the field. The employees were happy to share their experiences and insights, and the students left with a better understanding of what it takes to succeed in the technology industry.
Overall, the visit was a great success. The students were engaged and enthusiastic, and it was clear that they had a genuine interest in learning more about Oracle technologies.
Lauretta Ojionu, Program Lead, Networking for Anglophone Countries, EPITECH, expressed gratitude to Oracle Academy for hosting the visit. “On behalf of EPITECH Benin, I want to thank you for your support and collaborative efforts towards our 2023 third Lagos trip edition. We appreciate the warm welcome and willingness to support our students/organization, and we hope that this launches a relationship that fosters innovation, development and partnerships, thereby bridging the gap between the Anglo/Francophone communities.”
