As organizations across industries accelerate AI adoption and digital transformation, the demand for graduates with modern data and AI skills continues to grow rapidly. To help address this evolving talent landscape in India, Oracle Academy, in collaboration with Oracle AI Database in Education, launched Project Vijay—a nationwide initiative designed to expand access to AI database education across higher education institutions.
Launched in January 2026, the 12-week initiative brought together 10 universities and colleges across India, including institutions from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, to deliver hands-on learning through the Applied Database Systems using Oracle AI Database (ADS 26AI) curriculum. By extending advanced technology education beyond major metropolitan centers, the initiative aimed to create broader and more equitable access to industry-relevant AI and cloud skills.
The program introduced faculty and students to some of today’s most in-demand technologies, including Oracle AI Database, Oracle APEX low-code application development, AI Vector Search, Generative AI, Spatial and Graph technologies, and Oracle Data Studio.
At a time when enterprises are increasingly seeking talent with practical AI, cloud, and data management expertise, initiatives like Project Vijay play an important role in helping bridge the gap between academic learning and evolving workforce needs.
Building a sustainable, faculty-led model
A defining strength of Project Vijay was its faculty-first execution model, designed not simply as a one-time training initiative, but as a sustainable framework that institutions can continue to build upon independently.
Over the course of the program, participating faculty engaged in technical enablement sessions, collaborative office hours, and guided learning engagements covering topics such as JSON, APEX, GenAI, Select AI, Spatial and Graph technologies, and modern data strategies. This approach empowered educators to confidently deliver advanced AI database concepts within their own classrooms while building long-term institutional capability.
Participating educators strongly appreciated the initiative. Dr. Vineetha KR, Assistant Professor at Christ University, Bangalore, shared: “A special thanks to Ms. Priscila Iruela for the detailed curriculum walkthrough, and Ms. Anuradha Sharma for championing the vision and execution of Project Vijay while enabling meaningful collaboration across institutions, faculty, and industry stakeholders… The professional course offerings and free access to Oracle Cloud resources provided to our students and faculty have significantly strengthened students’ interest in emerging technologies.”
Similarly, Dr. Ritu Ahluwalia, Gyan Ganga Institute of Technology and Sciences (GGITS), Jabalpur, described the initiative as “transformational” for the university’s academic ecosystem: “Through this exceptional initiative, our learners have gained not only advanced technical expertise but also invaluable practical exposure to cutting-edge Oracle technologies, strengthening their confidence to excel in the evolving digital landscape.”
Driving student engagement and real-world innovation
Across the 10 participating institutions, Project Vijay reached more than 6,000 enrolled students, helping expand access to emerging AI and database technologies at scale. Among actively tracked participants, 64% successfully completed the ADS 26AI course—an encouraging indicator of both learner engagement and commitment in a highly technical program.
Importantly, students moved beyond theoretical learning to build practical, industry-relevant solutions using Oracle technologies. One standout example was SmartSupply, a unified distributor-retailer workflow platform developed during the program that secured top recognition at the Project Vijay Hackathon.
The application integrated machine learning for predictive inventory management, a Generative AI assistant, and vector-based semantic search capabilities—demonstrating how students were able to apply advanced Oracle technologies to solve real-world business challenges.
As one student participant reflected, “Learning becomes truly meaningful only when it is implemented to solve real-world problems.”
To further strengthen learner outcomes and support long-term career readiness, participating students and faculty were also offered access to three Oracle professional certifications:
• Oracle Data Platform Foundations Associate
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Foundations Associate
• Oracle Cloud Infrastructure AI Foundations Associate
These certifications provided participants with industry-recognized credentials aligned with growing enterprise demand for AI, cloud, and data platform expertise. By combining hands-on learning with professional certification opportunities, Project Vijay helped create a stronger pathway from academic learning to workforce readiness.
Celebrating collaboration at Oracle Noida office
The initiative culminated in a finale event hosted at Oracle’s Noida office, bringing together faculty leaders, top-performing students, mentors, and industry speakers to celebrate the collective achievements of the program and share perspectives on the future of AI talent development.
The event opened with a welcome address by Anuradha Sharma, Head of Oracle Academy South Asia, followed by remarks from William McCabe, Vice President, Oracle Academy. Priscila Iruela, Senior Principal Technical Program Manager from the Oracle AI Database Product Management team, also addressed participants alongside faculty and student speakers who shared their experiences from the initiative.
A key highlight of the event was an industry keynote session delivered by Wipro leaders Faisal Yaseen, Senior Solutions Architect, and PVS Prakash, Director, NextGen Talent. Their session focused on the evolving skills landscape and the growing importance of AI, cloud, problem-solving, and applied technology experience in preparing students for next-generation careers.
Expanding the vision beyond the pilot
The success of Project Vijay has established a scalable framework for broader expansion across India’s higher education ecosystem. Combining industry-aligned curriculum, faculty enablement, cloud-based learning environments, and hands-on application development, the initiative demonstrated how universities can rapidly adopt and deliver modern AI database education at scale.
Oracle Academy envisions extending this model beyond the initial 10 institutions to create a growing network of universities and colleges equipped to prepare the next generation of AI-ready database professionals.
As India continues its digital transformation journey, initiatives like Project Vijay reflect Oracle Academy’s broader commitment to empowering educators, enabling student innovation, and helping build a future-ready workforce prepared for an AI-driven economy.
