Oracle Academy recently organized the Oracle Academy Educators Bootcamp for university educators in Nigeria, which took place on May 11-12, 2023, at University of Lagos. It was themed ‘Innovation as A Tool for Improved Technology Education in Tertiary Institutions.’
The Knowledge Builder event was designed to help university-level educators enhance their skills in teaching computer science and technology courses using Oracle technologies and Oracle Academy free learning resources. Over 70 tertiary educators from various institutions across Nigeria joined the hybrid event.
The speakers delivered very engaging and hands-on sessions:

Danny Gooris encouraged the educators to adopt the free teaching resources that Oracle Academy provides, while Bekere Amassoma ran a live demo on the membership registration process and how to create an Oracle Academy cloud account.
Gary Miller explained the Oracle Academy Cloud Program and demonstrated to the faculty how to use the Oracle Academy Member Hub to access their free resources and curriculum.
The representative of the Dean, alongside Prof. Adewole and Prof. Sodiya, emphasized the importance of robust academia-industry relations and thanked Oracle Academy for putting together the bootcamp in collaboration with the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Lagos, and the Nigeria Computer Society.
Olagoke Orija and Jeffry Amachree delivered on the scheduled sessions covering Cloud Computing, Database Management, Artificial Intelligence, Hands-on Labs and other Oracle-related technologies.
The bootcamp offered opportunities for participants to network with other educators and industry professionals, as well as engage in discussions on best practices for teaching computer science courses.
Overall, the Oracle Academy Educators Bootcamp was a valuable opportunity for educators to enhance their skills and knowledge in teaching computer science courses using Oracle technologies, and to become better equipped to prepare their students for careers using technology knowledge and skills.
