El mes pasado, el Oracle Academy Summit, el evento más importante de educación en tecnología se llevó a cabo en Guadalajara, México. La conferencia, que es la primera vez que se lleva a cabo en forma presencial – las dos versiones anteriores en 2021 y 2022 fueron virtuales, fue una oportunidad única para que los docentes universitarios, expertos de la industria y ejecutivos de Oracle se conectaran para compartir sus conocimientos, sus experiencias educativas y los beneficios y los resultados de trabajar en conjunto para facilitar y mejorar la educación en tecnología de la mano con Oracle a través del programa de Oracle Academy.
Durante el evento, docentes, decanos, directores y otros miembros de la comunidad educativa participaron en charlas magistrales, paneles de discusión, sesiones técnicas y prácticas dictadas por expertos de Oracle, y tuvieron espacios para conectar con sus pares y con ejecutivos de la compañía. Más de 40 sesiones se llevaron a cabo durante el evento, en temas como Inteligencia Artificial, Nube, desarrollo de bajo código, bases de datos, Java, data science y data analytics, Netsuite y Primavera, entre muchos otros.
Para iniciar el evento, Jacqueline Rendón, Líder de Operaciones Oracle Academy México, Richard Delgado, Director de Oracle Academy para Latinoamérica y el Caribe y José Clemente Orozco Alcalá, Gerente de Oracle Academy para México, dieron la bienvenida a los más de 250 docentes miembros de Oracle Academy que asistieron al evento, para dar paso a, Izumy Romero, Principal Instructor de Oracle Academy abordó temas de nuestra nube y los beneficios de utilizar nuestros recursos en el aula.
La parte emotiva llegó más tarde, cuando se entregaron reconocimientos a instituciones y docentes por su destacada participación y uso de las herramientas de Oracle Academy, así como impulsar la certificación de sus estudiantes.
El día 23 de julio el evento recibió a Erik Peterson, Director del Mexico Development Center (MDC), quien estuvo a cargo de la apertura y que compartió una interesantísima charla respecto a la creación del MDC, el trabajo que ahí se lleva a cabo y los perfiles de estudiantes que se están contratando. Esta charla inicial dio paso a un panel “Desarrollo de talento y vinculación: Industria-Universidad-Gobierno” con la participación de Marco Antonio Pérez Cisneros, Rector del Centro Universitario de Ciencias Exactas e Ingenierías de la Universidad de Guadalajara, Roger Eleutheri, Presidente de CANIETI Occidente, Samuel Martínez Gonzalez, Director de Educación Media Superior Tecnológica, Erik Peterson, Director General del Mexico Development Center, Francisco Abedrabbo, Vicepresidente de Desarrollo de Negocios para la División de Base de Datos y como moderador Fernando Irure, Director de Sector Público Oracle México, para discutir cómo se trabaja en la actualidad e identificar las áreas a fortalecer para mejorar la empleabilidad de los estudiantes.
Y hablando de empleabilidad, Peter Fernandez, Senior Director Cloud Certification, Oracle University tomó el escenario para presentar el programa Skills Development Initiative (SDI), un programa impulsado por Oracle University e inspirado por necesidad de cerrar la brecha de talento en el mercado laboral, enfatizando en la importancia de las certificaciones y la validez global que tienen las mismas, y por lo tanto la importancia de que los estudiantes obtengan certificaciones de la industria para mejorar sus oportunidades laborales.
Para cerrar el evento, tuve la oportunidad de agradecer por todo el compromiso, trabajo y tiempo que los docentes realizan día a día para impulsar la educación tecnología, ayudándonos, a través de su esfuerzo, a cumplir la misión de Oracle Academy, al mismo tiempo que agradecí que nos acompañaran en el Oracle Academy Summit – Mexico 2024, un evento que nos acerca aún más y nos hace avanzar juntos.

Oracle Academy Summit Mexico proves to be an unforgettable academic encounter

On July 23-24, 2024, the Oracle Academy Summit was held at the Oracle Mexico Development Center (MDC), an academic meeting that brought together those from academia, industry, and government. The conference, which for the first time was held in person after those in 2021 and 2022 were virtual, was a unique opportunity for university teachers, industry experts and academics to connect with Oracle executives and professionals who shared their knowledge, educational experiences, and the benefits and outcomes of working together to facilitate and enhance technology education with Oracle through the Oracle Academy program.
During the event, faculty, deans, principals, and other members of the education community participated in keynote talks, panel discussions, technical sessions, and practices delivered by Oracle experts, and had opportunities to connect with their peers and company executives. More than 40 sessions were held during the event, on topics such as artificial intelligence, cloud, low-code development, databases, Java, data science and data analytics, Oracle Netsuite, and Oracle Primavera, among many others.
To kick off the event, Jacqueline Rendón, Oracle Academy Mexico Operations Leader; Richard Delgado, Oracle Academy Director for Latin America and the Caribbean; and José Clemente Orozco Alcalá, Oracle Academy Manager for Mexico, welcomed more than 250 Oracle Academy member faculty who attended the event. Then Izumy Romero, Oracle Academy Principal Instructor, addressed topics from the Oracle Academy Cloud Program to the benefits of using our teaching and learning resources.
The emotional part came later, when awards were given to institutions and teachers for their outstanding participation and use of Oracle Academy tools, as well as boosting their students’ certification.
On July 23, the event received Erik Peterson, Director of the Mexico Development Center (MDC), who opened the day’s event and shared an interesting talk about the creation of the MDC, the work that is carried out there, and the profiles of students who are being hired. This initial talk gave way to a panel “Development of Talent and Linkage: Industry-University-Government,” with the participation of Marco Antonio Pérez Cisneros, Rector of the University Center of Exact Sciences and Engineering of the University of Guadalajara; Roger Eleutheri, President of CANIETI Occidente; Samuel Martínez Gonzalez, Director of Higher Technological Middle Education; Erik Peterson, General Manager of the Mexico Development Center; Francisco Abedrabbo, Vice President of Business Development for the Database Division; and moderator Fernando Irure, Director of Public Sector Oracle Mexico. The panel discussed how work is currently being done and identified areas to strengthen to improve student employability.
On the topic of employability, Peter Fernandez, Senior Director Cloud Certification, Oracle University, took the stage to introduce the Skills Development Initiative (SDI) program, a program powered by Oracle University and inspired by the need to close the talent gap in the labor market. The program emphasizes the importance of industry certifications and the global validity they have, and therefore the importance of students obtaining these professional certifications to improve their job opportunities.
To close the event, I had the opportunity to thank all the commitment, work, and time that teachers take day after day to promote technology education, helping us, through their effort, to fulfill Oracle Academy’s mission. I also thank all those who were able to join us at the Oracle Academy Summit Mexico 2024, an event that brought us even closer and moves us forward together.
