The Transforming Education Initiative 2050 workshop by Global Peace Foundation took place from January 22–23 2025, at Crawford International School, Kenya. This event focused on exploring and envisioning the purpose and future of education in the Global South, with a long-term perspective leading up to 2050.
Dr. Tony Devine, PhD Ed., Vice President of Education at Global Peace Foundation International, served as the Chief Guest and key facilitator. His insights provided a comprehensive view on the evolving landscape of education zeroing in on AI and the necessary transformations required to equip future generations with relevant skills and knowledge.
As part of the opening statements, Danny Gooris, Oracle Academy Senior Director, EMEA, delivered an impactful presentation on the Oracle Academy program. His presentation highlighted how the program empowers educators by providing them with the necessary tools and training to enhance learning. Oracle Academy offers free teaching and learning resources, including full curriculum materials, professional development for educators, cloud environments, and access to Oracle software. These resources enable instructors to effectively teach subjects like database design, Java programming, machine learning and artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data science. Oracle Academy also facilitates hands-on learning through industry-standard tools like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle APEX, preparing students for real-world applications and career opportunities in the tech sector.
The event brought together educators, policymakers, and thought leaders, providing a platform for meaningful discussions on reimagining education.
