On the occasion of International Day of Education 2025, Oracle Academy reaffirmed its commitment to digital literacy and technology empowerment by hosting an Alice programming coding session at its Lagos, Nigeria, office in January 2025. The event welcomed 30 students from two secondary schools in Lagos: Al-Tanzeel School, Ikorodu, and Supreme Education Foundation School, Magodo, for an engaging and interactive three-hour session designed to pique their passion for technology.
The session provided students with hands-on experience in Alice programming, introducing them to fundamental programming concepts and problem-solving techniques. The instructors guided the participants through interactive exercises, including storytelling through coding, animation development, and real-world applications of Alice programming in various industries.
Beyond technical skills, the event also emphasized critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity—essential skills for success in today’s digital economy. Oracle Academy mentors Segun Ajayi, Senior Sales Director, Technology and Country Leader, Oracle Nigeria; Tajudeen Oyebanji, Senior Principal TAM, CSS, EMEA; Aderonke Osumah, Facilities Manager, Oracle Nigeria, and Bekere Amassoma, Oracle Academy Program Manager, were on hand to provide insights into potential career paths in technology, inspiring students to explore opportunities in software development, artificial intelligence, and game design.
As the world continues to evolve towards a digital-first future, initiatives like these are crucial in bridging the digital divide and preparing young minds for the opportunities ahead. By providing students with early exposure to Alice programming, Oracle Academy is encouraging a culture of innovation and problem-solving, equipping students with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly tech-driven world.
Stay tuned for more impactful initiatives from Oracle Academy, as we continue to empower the next generation of tech leaders!
