Oracle Academy was invited to participate in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) organized by LAM INFOKOM, the Indonesian Informatics and Computer Accreditation Agency, at the end of 2024. Themed “Collaboration of Industry, Universities, and Associations to Improve Informatics and Computer Education in Indonesia,” the event aimed to foster a more adaptive and responsive educational ecosystem.
The FGD brought together key leaders from industry, academia, and professional associations—including KADIN (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Huawei, Cisco, and Ruijie—alongside representatives from universities and expert organizations. The goal: To strengthen partnerships that enhance the quality and relevance of informatics and computer science education nationwide.
In her remarks, Nurul Huda, Oracle Academy Manager for Southeast Asia, underscored the importance of academic institutions collaborating with industry partners like Oracle Academy. She emphasized that such partnerships are essential to aligning curricula with evolving technologies, equipping students with career-relevant skills, and preparing them for professional certifications—ultimately reducing the gap between graduate competencies and industry demands.
Prof. Sri Hartati, Ph.D., Chair of the LAM INFOKOM Executive Board, highlighted the pivotal role of collaboration in building an educational framework that keeps pace with the rapid evolution of technology. Supporting this view, Prof. Zainal A. Hasibuan, Ph.D., Chairman of the LAM INFOKOM Council, stated, “Stronger collaboration between education and industry ensures graduates are prepared to face the challenges of a dynamic digital landscape. Working together, stakeholders can better align education with market needs and drive innovation.”
The FGD covered a broad spectrum of topics, including curriculum development aligned with industry standards, faculty upskilling, and expanding opportunities for student internships and hands-on projects. The discussions resulted in actionable recommendations that will serve as a roadmap for improving the quality and relevance of informatics and computer science education in Indonesia.
