Oracle Academy joined hands with Hansung University to host a meaningful engagement in May 2025, aimed at cultivating the next generation of IT professionals. The initiative was anchored by a campus visit from Oracle Academy Korea and Japan Program Manager, Jean Chi Hyon Shin, who led a roundtable discussion with President Changwon Lee and 15 faculty members from the university’s Departments of Applied AI and Computer Science. During the session, Shin introduced Oracle’s extensive portfolio of technological capabilities and shared how Oracle Academy’s free academic resources can be effectively leveraged in both teaching and research.
A particular focus was placed on Oracle Academy’s Career Center, a one-stop platform designed to help students acquire industry-relevant competencies and certifications. The ability to tailor educational content to specific job roles and industry requirements was met with strong interest from the faculty, highlighting the platform’s potential to significantly enhance students’ career readiness.
The day continued with a career exploration workshop featuring Taewan Kim, Master Principal Cloud Engineer, Oracle Korea Cloud Engineering Team. Speaking to an audience of over 200 students and faculty, Kim delivered a keynote titled “Developers in the Age of Generative AI – Over the Shoulder of Giants.” Drawing on 26 years of experience in the field, Kim shared his own unconventional path—from a non-technical background to becoming a seasoned Oracle technology expert—offering practical insights gained through hands-on experience. He introduced the concept of cloud computing as a Programmable Resource Life-Cycle Management System, and demystified advanced concepts such as Object, Model Context Protocol (MCP), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) Agents, and Generative AI, linking classroom theory to real-world enterprise applications through live demonstrations.
Emphasizing the importance of having a clear goal and the ability to leverage tools effectively, Kim remarked, “The ability to create something new is valuable, but growth accelerates when vision is paired with tool mastery.” His engaging and interactive presentation was well-received, prompting Prof. Woonghee Lee, the Dean of the Department of Applied AI, to note, “It was an inspiring session not only for students, but also for faculty members seeking insight into the direction of the IT industry.”
Interest in Oracle Academy’s resources has continued to grow since the workshop. Increasing numbers of Hansung University faculty are joining Oracle Academy with the intent to integrate its resources into courses such as database systems and capstone design projects. This trend underscores Oracle Academy’s expanding role in bridging technology and education within Korea’s higher education landscape.
