The British Irish Chamber of Commerce Higher Education and Research Conference was held in the British Academy, London, on June 13, 2025. The event was an important networking opportunity for delegates from a variety of universities and third level educational institutes across the islands of Ireland and Great Britain. Peter Kyle PM, Secretary of State for Science and Innovation, gave the morning keynote speech, and James Lawless, Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research Innovation and Science, Ireland, gave the afternoon keynote speech.
Oracle Academy staff were delighted to attend the event with Oracle Cloud Infrastracture representative Ben Grace, speaking to the challenges facing industry. He also addressed the benefits of partnership with academia and preparation required for current digital careers and upcoming technology innovations.
The event also was attended by several UK and Ireland government representatives, as well as sponsors the Science Foundation Ireland, Research Ireland, UK Research and Innovation, Universities Alliance, Universities UK, Irish Universities Association, and the University of Wales, along with many distinguished guests.
The audience celebrated past, current and ongoing alliances beween the islands, a shared network of academics and students working together to innovate and collaborate in the fields of science, technology, health, and the creative industry, amongst others.
In a time of great technological and global change comes opportunity, and the continuing and developing research carried out in higher education provides the opportunity to bring the islands closer together for the betterment of society.
