Oracle Academy was delighted to support the international competition “Kangaroo without Borders,” which took place in 44 schools in 18 cities across Montenegro and was organized by Tinker non-governmental organization. In the competition, 3,288 students in Montenegro practiced their logical thinking, reasoning, mathematical skills, and problem-solving strategies.

They had 60 to 75 minutes to solve various mathematical problems in multiple-choice form using basic computational skills, showing their creativity and “out of the box” thinking to solve challenges and unusual questions that differed from the standard textbook problems they see every day. The idea was to spark their interest in logical thinking and mathematics, inspire their imagination, and promote a positive perception of mathematics.

All the competition tasks were age-appropriate from second grade of elementary school to the last grade of high school, and they were created according to the standards of the international “Association Kangourou sans Frontières” (AKSF).

After the thousands of students, supported by more than 100 coordinators and mentors, successfully tested, 58 winners were announced at the official competition award ceremony.

The organizer Tinker is a non-governmental organization with a goal to bring science and the basic concepts of programming closer to youth in interesting ways, to provide the prerequisites for them to become familiar with the possibilities that science and programming provide, and to motivate them to think, develop their imaginations, and create their own animations, interactive stories, games, and the like. The organization also stands against discrimination of any kind, with programming and mathematics available to all youth of any gender or socioeconomic class, as well as those with special needs (with support of their parents).

Director of Tinker, Jelena Milojkovic, shared with us her impressions: “Kangaroo without Borders is more than just a competition — it’s an invitation for children to think differently, to enjoy solving problems, and to believe in their own abilities. Thanks to our collaboration with Oracle Academy, thousands of young minds in Montenegro experienced the joy of mathematics and took a step closer to becoming the innovators of tomorrow. This collaboration shows how education and technology partners can work hand in hand to inspire the next generation of problem solvers.”
