We are excited to announce the release of WebLogic Remote Console (WRC) 3.0.1—a major milestone that delivers a comprehensive refactor from version 2.x, leveraging modern technology to deliver a faster, more maintainable, and visually polished management experience.

Release Timeline

The WebLogic Remote Console 3.0.1 is now available as a Technical Preview on GitHub. The General Availability (GA) release is planned for April 2026.

What is WebLogic Remote Console?

WebLogic Remote Console is a modern, lightweight, open-source management tool for WebLogic Server. Designed for flexibility and ease of use, WRC enables you to manage and monitor domains for WebLogic Server 12.2.1.4, 14.1.1, 14.1.2, and 15.1.1.

For WebLogic Server 12.2.1.4 and 14.1.1, WRC is an alternative to the classic WebLogic Server Administration Console, which continues to be supported. Starting with WebLogic Server 14.1.2, WRC becomes the primary and only console for configuration and monitoring.

Why the Major Refactor?

The 3.0.1 release is more than a performance upgrade or a visual refresh. Our main goal was to ensure long-term maintainability and modernization of the codebase, resulting in:

  • Cleaner, maintainable architecture
  • Enhanced performance
  • A refined, intuitive user interface

These improvements benefit both current users and future development.

Flexible Deployment Options to Fit Your Needs

WRC is available in two distinct formats, allowing you to tailor your management experience to your environment:

  • Desktop Remote Console: Run this dedicated application locally on your desktop and connect to WebLogic Server domains hosted anywhere—including on physical or virtual machines, containers, Kubernetes environments, or even on Oracle Cloud. The desktop app offers additional conveniences which may not be available through a browser interface.
  • Hosted Remote Console: Deploy this web application to your Administration Server and access it from any web browser. This option is ideal for environments where installing additional software may be restricted or impractical.

While both formats offer a largely consistent feature set, the choice of format provides flexibility based on your organizational requirements and deployment preferences.

Keeping Your Console Up to Date

The update model for each format is also designed for convenience:

  • Hosted Remote Console: Updates are delivered automatically as part of the WebLogic Server Patch Set Update (PSU) cycle, ensuring your browser-accessible console stays current and supported.
  • Desktop Remote Console: Updates are released independently via GitHub. This provides more flexibility, letting you adopt the latest features and fixes at your ownpace, regardless of the WebLogic Server PSU schedule. For your convenience, we align Desktop Remote Console releases with the Hosted Remote Console on a quarterly basis.

As part of this release cadence, we have made the Desktop format of WRC 3.0.1 (technical preview) available on GitHub, and we plan to release both Desktop and Hosted formats of WRC 3.x (GA) in April 2026.
