We’re excited to introduce the Oracle WebLogic Migration Tool, a new open-source utility designed to simplify and accelerate the process of moving Oracle WebLogic Server workloads to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
This release reflects our continued commitment to helping customers modernize operations while protecting long-standing WebLogic investments. Many enterprises are running high-value, deeply integrated applications on WebLogic, and the move to OCI is often a key step in improving agility, reliability, and cost efficiency. The WebLogic Migration Tool directly addresses one of the biggest barriers to cloud adoption: translating existing on-premises domain configurations into OCI ready deployment assets.
Purpose-built for practical, real-world migrations
The WebLogic Migration Tool offers guided automation that inspects an existing WebLogic domain and generates the artifacts needed to deploy that domain on OCI virtual machines. The goal is simple; reduce manual effort, eliminate guesswork, and help customers move with confidence.
Key features include:
Automated domain analysis
The tool scans all your WebLogic configuration such as: servers, clusters, data sources, JMS resources, security settings, and more. Furthermore, it provides visibility into what can be migrated as-is and what may require adjustments.
Generation of OCI deployment resources
It automatically produces the artifacts required to stand up your WebLogic domain on OCI, including Terraform templates and configuration files. This cuts down the time typically spent recreating environments by hand.
Support for multiple licensing models
Customers can migrate with no additional cost by bringing their existing WebLogic licenses and support contracts to OCI.
Alternatively, you can choose a pay-as-you-go model using WebLogic Server for OCI UCM images, giving you the flexibility to align costs with usage and simplify operational overhead.
Open-source and extensible
Available on GitHub, the tool gives customers and partners the freedom to extend functionality, submit improvements, and tailor the workflow to their environment.
Clear guidance and best practices
The project includes documentation that outlines recommended migration approaches, architectural considerations, and tips for building consistent, reliable deployment pipelines on OCI.
