Oracle is pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database 26.1 (March 2026). This release delivers major enhancements across security, performance, JSON support, and Kubernetes native environment deployments, helping customers build and run latency-sensitive applications with greater confidence and easier operations.
Key highlights
Stronger security end-to-end
TimesTen 26.1 improves user access, database storage and process communication securities providing more secured options to users.
- Encryption for data at rest to protect checkpoint and transaction log files, with support for AES-128/192/256, FIPS 140-2 mode, online key rotation, and encrypted backup/restore support.
- TLS 1.3 support for both client/server and replication traffic (TLS 1.2 remains available for backward compatibility).
- Security hardening updates, including SHA-256–based credential storage, enhanced certificate tooling, and a more secure restrict mode for TimesTen utilities.
Built-in JSON support (engine, cache, replication, utilities)
TimesTen 26.1 adds JSON data type support across the platform, designed for compatibility with Oracle Database JSON type and functions.
- Use JSON in the database engine, replication, and TimesTen Cache.
- Improved developer and admin workflows, including ttLoadFromOracle support for loading Oracle JSON columns and ttIsql bind-from-file (useful for JSON documents).
Faster startup and improved runtime efficiency
- Parallel redo can reduce startup and recovery time—especially for larger databases or environments with many log files.
- Parallel connect improves throughput during bursts of concurrent connection requests.
- Online defragmentation helps reclaim space and reduce fragmentation with low operational impact.
TimesTen Kubernetes Operator enhancement
TimesTen 26.1 expands Kubernetes operational capabilities with a focus on secure, observable deployments:
- Automated TLS certificate configuration, support for Bring-Your-Own CA, and certificate rotation.
- New metrics (including active/standby pod visibility) and improvements to simplify lifecycle operations.
- Support for modern Kubernetes environments (including Kubernetes 1.34, tested on OCI OKE and AWS EKS, on AMD64 architectures).
Platform and ecosystem support
TimesTen 26.1 supports modern OS and language environments, including Oracle Java and OpenJDK 11/17/21/25, JDBC 4.3, and popular drivers such as python-oracledb and node-oracledb. TimesTen Cache supports Oracle Database 19c, 23ai, and 26ai as the backend database. TimesTen Cache also is supported as a target to Oracle GoldenGate 21.3 through the new autorefresh method of log-based caching.
