American Airlines (AA), in collaboration with Oracle Advanced Customer Services (ACS), were able to successfully move their business-critical sales reservation system safely to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). AA’s complex Siebel CRM deployment was quickly and efficiently modernized using ACS unique automation and tooling, whilst maintaining business continuity throughout the entire transition. This enabled AA to rapidly reap the economic, performance and security benefits of the Oracle Cloud.

While planning their cloud migration, AA had a few concerns, such as:

  • They wanted very tight control on their tenancy
  • They had an application footprint that is highly complex and extensively integrated, both internal and external
  • They required very tight security
  • They needed optimal cost for both transitioning, as well as ongoing run & maintain

In our recent Virtual Summit, Sachin Shah, Senior Manager of Digital Transformation within Oracle ACS, and Vijay Krishnaswamy, Technical Delivery Manager at American Airlines, walked through AA’s entire journey to OCI, including – the infrastructure architecture, robust built-in security and other technologies that were implemented.

We learnt how ACS were able to address all their initial concerns and how AA was able to reduce their monthly OCI hosting spend by 32% in a span of just 3 months, bang in the midst of the pandemic where every dollar counts. Talk about fantastic ROI !

Particularly impressive was the 100% Automation capabilities of Siebel CRM which Oracle ACS did a fantastic job in implementing. ACS automation not only saved 76% of the time it would have taken the administrators to manually standup these environments, but it also saved on OCI hardware time. Meaning the OCI resources were provisioned only when an environment was needed.
