Don’t you hate it when you reactivate a time reporter, either because they’ve been rehired, or they move back into another job, and you forget to reset their Earliest Change Date (ECD). You usually don’t notice until you see the Time Admin process running long because their ECD is still set to the last time they were active. You don’t have to worry about that anymore.

In Image 46 PeopleSoft delivered the ability to have a time reporter’s ECD automatically reset to the effective date of the reactivated row in their Manage Time Reporter Data (TL_EMPL_DATA) record.  This includes whether the record is reactivated through Auto Enrollment or manually updated. There are a few considerations:

  • It does not reset the ECD if there is current unprocessed time in Reported Time (TL_RPTD_TIME).  What this means is that if Reported Time has at least one of the following statuses then the ECD won’t be reset:
    • Needs Approval
    • Submitted
    • Approved the ECD
  • The ECD status on the Update TA Status and ECD page also needs to be set to “Not Up For Processing”, but only for a positive time reporter. This doesn’t apply to exception time reporters.

  • And in Image 46 it does not reset the ECD if there is current unprocessed time in Payable Time (TL_PAYABLE_TIME).  What this means is that if Payable Time has one of the following statuses, then the ECD will not be reset:
    • Diluted
    • No Pay
    • Distributed
    • Approved
    • Closed
    • Taken by Payroll
    • Sent to Payroll

Note:  We have come to realize that checking for this condition was a mistake and Bug 35531808 was created to remove this condition from the logic.  This bug will be delivered in Image 47.

These conditions were created to ensure that no outstanding or corrected time was missed.  If the time has been properly processed and in the correct status, then the ECD will be reset.

It also does not reset the ECD if the Manage Time Reporter record is updated in correction mode as the assumption is that if the Administrator is correcting the Manage Time Reporter record they will also correct the ECD date, if needed.

Once you have this feature applied, whether through selective adoption or getting current with Image 46, there is no additional setup or configuration needed.
